Federer said he will likely play the clay court season, which gives him one more chance at the Double career slam.

I don't think he'd win RG if all the top 20 sit it out. I'm hoping he comes to his senses and doesn't play on clay this year or any year. He needs some rest followed by serious training for grass

Optimistic would be saying he's definitely winning more majors. I have a feeling that ship has sailed, because there is a pretty obvious transition as we speak in the depth and competitiveness of the field. I have a feeling we will be looking at it as a highly competitive field for the first time in a long time.

Those Bercy and WTF finals were great results from the field(hopefully someone steps up on clay as well).I sort off expected Djokovic to win everything he entered.I still think he wins 2-3 slams this year.

However, I guarantee Roger won't continue to be so pathetic as the last 8-9 months (currently now at #6!!!). If so then I'd imagine he calls it a career after this year.

His off-days are terrible these days though.
He said he wanted to gain some power on FH in the off-season but he was literally hitting puffballs mostly in the first 2 sets and almost exclusively in the last set and a half.

Ok guys Federer is out of the tournament... he is gone, probably already back in Switzerland... If you guys want to talk about Federer and his future maybe you can do it in the Federer fan thread? But please let’s keep this thread about players who are still in the tournament such as Nadal and the upcoming matches in Australia. Thanks! :good:

Federer at least has a better wimbledon this year even if he's not at his best level of tennis.

Federer at least has a better wimbledon this year even if he's not at his best level of tennis.

Anything but a title is a failure. He's crapped the bed at too many Wimbledons to count and that's why he may end up with a second rate slam total.

All 3 of them will try to win as many slams as they can. They want the slam record. At 32, Nadal is still tweaking his serve, which tells you that he desperately wants the record. And if Djokovic wins this AO, he will be within 5 slams of Federer and 2 of Nadal.

Nadal has tweaked/worked on his serve for 13 years now. Regardless of whether he desperately wants the record, I does think it shows someone who is trying to improve and stay competitive. Compare his serve and BH now when he first started winning Majors in 2005 and there is a huge difference.

Rich coming from a guy who can't post a single thing except about Nadal anywhere. We'll remember this for when island boy is back fishing next time 'cos I bet you'll be harping on about him being a beautiful man and other such bs for pages after he's knocked out in whatever tournament that may be.

He isn't gonna play the clay season..he isn't that foolish..he knows his best chance now is to be fresh for SW19 ..there are too many players including the likes of Thiem and Sasha Z who will run Roger's dick into the dirt on clay..I doubt if Rafa plays Madrid or Rome..leave it to the previous mentioned youngters..

He said he'll assess whether he'll play clay season after Indian Wells and Miami. I have a feeling he'll play though since not playing last year didn't even result in winning Wimbledon. It's a really dumb move if he does though. If he does play clay it should be say Monte Carlo and Rome only or maybe Madrid just so he's not off the tour for too long with no match practice but best of 5 on a slow grueling surface would be the final nail in the coffin for him at this stage when he'll be pushing 38. It would be beyond dumb. The Barcelona director has offered him a big appearance fee so actually maybe he'll play there but he should only play that and 1 masters max and screw RG. No point entering a slam just to show up when you have no hope of winning it. All that would achieve is unnecessary wear and tear on the body, possible injury and fatigue before Wimbledon.

Nice, not really. I think he is nice today because he is euphoric after Federer’s loss.
I mean he seems nice. He doesn't really get nasty when he winds Fed fans up. He just goes O.T.T. & expects everyone to agree with him but we're all entitled to have & air our own opinions as long as we respect other people's rights to do the same so I disagree with you but I respect your right to disagree with me.

I try not to take those posts too seriously since it's just stirring the pot unnecessarily! It's to be expected from a Nadal-ite! :nono:
I'm not a Nadalite actually & I don't shit stir.

Huh! I've not goaded anyone or made fun of anyone. I don't do that.

No he/she is not right. If this was a dedicated thread for a specific match eg a quarter final thread then, yes, we shouldn't be and indeed likely wouldn't be talking about Federer but this is the main AO thread and he played his match under 12 hours ago so naturally the posts are still gonna be in the main AO thread.

Ok fair enough federer fans should be free to post about him for at least half a day, I do really like talking about federer anyway.
