Great match by Tsitsipas and tbh even if Federer had scraped through this one I reckon he'd have lost to RBA and losing to that guy would make me want to top myself. Tsitsipas on the other hand is a helluva player to watch. Well deserved but far from Roger's best showing too. Entertaining match though.

Tsitsipas just did what Federer has done his entire career. Serve well. Stay in front. Crush dreams. Looks like he deserved it. I only saw the end of the 4th set. But if he served like that the entire match and Fed looked that low energy Tsitsipas did what he was supposed to do. He kept Roger on the ropes.

I'm sad I guess. But I don't think I thought Fed was gonna win over Djokovic or Nadal this year anyways. So a little earlier isn't the end of the world.

What?! I just woke up at 3-3 in the tiebreak. I can’t believe it. And I just lost money.

Tsitsipas is the real deal. He will be the one to dominate tennis after Nadal retires. Congratulatons Tsitsipas on today’s brilliant match.

Sorry to tell to you but Nadal isn't currently dominating tennis, it's Djokovic. Other than that, your post is probably correct.

I recorded it on DVR, so I’ll have to watch it later, but obviously Tsitsipas played well I take it?

Yep, Fed was the better player in the second set, missing countless break point chances... but outside of that Stefanos was the better player - he dominated the rallies and played real clutch tennis when he needed it. The guy is a keeper... great future ahead.

Wasted a few hours of sleep for that. Had a bad feeling coming in that Roger would mentally fold, actually was surprised the last two sets were competitive after the ugly 2nd but the match looked over then. Roger looks done honestly. Hasn't strung together two good performances in quite awhile now.

But at least it's Perseus that beat him. Hope he can keep it up.

Can't be crying over a 4th round win against a grandpa. Come on

I agree that Fed looked his age in the bit I saw. But Tsitsipas is still definitely allowed to cry. Because Fed still didn't look like a grandpa. He just ran up against a big serving guy. And Fed couldn't read it as well as he can some others. And Tsitsipas got to the net a lot, like he does. Johnny Mac appreciates that.

And it certainly does feel like a bit of a guard change. Or at least that these younger guys are sneaking by one or two guards on occasion.

Seen Fed play a lot worse than that mate. I'm not expecting a 2005 version to appear out of nowhere. The lad has got a big game... the big question mark was if he could maintain that tempo over the 5 set format and do it under pressure. He answered both questions... bit of credit where it's due... he played a great match.

well said. I am saddened that Roger has lost but the kid from Greece has a great game and a huge future. I liked his after match comment where he says he wants to bring more attacking game. And how about Mac's response, "The changing of the guard, folks!" lets hope so.
