I saw it too! I had this feeling Novak wasn't exactly trying all that hard to win! Vesely certainly played well, but I always had this feeling if Nole really wanted it, he could have turned that match around easily! It was clay for Gawd-sake! :yesyes:  :ptennis:
Lol! I can tell you're a Novak fan. I don't think these guys want losses on their record... ever

The guy has not done that much and he has been on tour a while. Injuries maybe? It will be the more interesting match so far, but Vesely will probably make too many UFE to be a real threat.
Lol! I don't think you're making broken feel any better. This is exactly the sort of fella that tends to do Rafa in. The fact he's done nothing for a while, doesn't make it better, it makes him fit the role even better :D

I wasn't trying to. ;) Broken sometimes needs to blow up Rafa's opponents before a match, I'm just playing along and hyping the match. It will get us all interested the first few games at least.

If you're a serious tennis player, you know players can literally script their matches with the score they'll win by! I was even able to accomplish that feat many times in tournaments! Players of course don't want losses on their record, but sometimes they need a break! Nole had done his usual; took another AO and the Masters' double of IW and Miami! He had had some 2015 playing the final in all his attempts at Masters (8/8, winning 6) as well as the 4 majors! He had to be exhausted in so many ways! He got some practice in that 2nd Rd match in MC vs Vesely & still went on to finish his CGS/Nole Slam 2 months later in Paris! :yesyes:  :ptennis:

And that was definitely the end of it after that. Hopefully we will see a resurgence soon.

Lol! If Fed fans came out with this stuff we would be accused of arrogance

Arrogance? Fiero is stating his record of 2015, which was better than whatever Fed ever produced in a year at Masters level.

That's not what I'm talking about. But it's nice to see that you're still trying to keep your guy in the GOAT conversation ;)

The idea that Novak might have intentionally lost because he needed a break was amusing, that's what I was referring to

Ah I don't think Fiero was saying that. Just that Novak might not have been 100% that day, because he needed a break. He got his break in any event.

That's why I laughed though. I don't think Fed fans would be able to even say that without being accused of arrogance

crikey! I'm starting to feel sorry for Mannarino. 5 love to Roger in the 1st set, not even 10 minutes played. Only 2 points one by Mannarino so far. Seems to be Bambi in headlights

KS's pretty boy is getting roughed up :)
He's not looking that pretty today all scruffy and what not. Besides, I have to keep up w/ the women's action right now which is much more unpredictable.

lol! This is getting so brutal that the Centre Court crowd are starting to cheer louder for Mannarino now than for Roger

6-0 Fed. Jesusfed in the house.

And opening game he blows three BPs at 0-40. That's the fluctuation in level Fed has.

4 BPs gone in the opening game. Mannarino has nipped the momentum in the bud.

this sort of start worries me with Roger. If he loses interest he could find himself in a messy situation

LOL This is just amazing. Fed absolutely cruising in the first set and now back to Halle level. The fluctuation in level of Fed is quite telling.

Fed's approach shots have been atrocious. Goes directly to the opponent and gets passed. What a clown.

Fed losing all these neutral baseline points to Mannarino is a taste of things to come.
