Looks like Gulbis has turned it on and will take out Dzumhur.

Yeah, I guess I thought he was younger. Then I guess he's just a rather less talented Fognini.
I don't see him winning majors, but I do think he can be dangerous, though you never know when, or for how long. I just don't feel the need to be as hard on him as Darth is.

I don't think I'm being hard on him. He's a pretty talented hothead/underachiever. Surprised he won today for sure.

Ernie finally draws the error and moves through. It looks like all the players who won grass court warm-ups last week or the week before are already out.

Lopez looks washed-up to me.
He is quite elderly. He may not have the extra longevity of a Fed or Haas that can play well past age 36.

Actually, despite the aging field, and players playing well until mid thirties, if you look carefully, after 35 threshold, the msjomajo are going downhill rather in accelerated way.
Roger is the exception.

Apart from the center court, people are watching that match from "Edmund Elevation" [formerly known as "Murray Mound" ( which was formerly known as "Henman Hill")] also. Edmund is the last British player standing, man, woman or in-between.

You forgot an all too important qualification in your comment. :nono:

1. Netherlands champ Gasquet out to a clown in 1R
2. Halle Champ Coric lost to coin thrower in 1R
3. Queens Champ Cilic ousted by clay courter in 2R
4. Eastbourne champ Mischa taken out by doubles player in 1R
5. Antalya champ Dzumhur ousted by Millionaire on the rebound in 2R.

Only, the mighty Stuttgart Champ stands. :drums:

Fabulous Fabio taking tennis seriously a higher % of time than in the past...now he cares about 20% of the time instead of 1%

Rafa really looking like it's the first time he plays on grass. I'm done with the "he sucks in the first week debate" but go back and watch his 2010 with Haase and the German dude whose last name has too many consonants, he was hitting the ball really well, but went 5 due to a hot opponent. Watch his 2007 match with Soderling... It's not the same, at all. He looks lost and his shots really look harmless. His serve looked much better against Sela in the first match too.

Oh shit, just realized Rafa will likely play Fognini in the 4th round. Yeah, he'll have his customary 4th round exit. Also, why am I not hearing complaints about Roger's draw? With Cilic out who's stopping him from making the finals exactly?

I don't think anyone complained Roger had a tough draw even before the upsets. But of course things look easier on paper now.

Interestingly none of the top threats have a really tough draw despite the fact there was a very big possibility for a Wild West style tourament.

I doubt Fog gets there and if he does I doubt he beats Nads.

Fog is up 2 sets though, hopefully he finishes before the Brits' ridiculous curfew sets in.

What part of my comment didn't you get? o_O There are 3 weeks to the grass warm-up season. I said the winners from last week or the week before. So that wouldn't include Fed who won his title in the first week.

Sascha drops a set to Taylor Swift. He's quick to drop to his knees and present tongue in these early rounds.

My best memory of Klahn actually is from this clip. Terrible call from the umpire and Bogomolov Jr. stopped playing and told the umpire to go fuck himself lol. Classic stuff.
