I posted that earlier, Carol. No one's interested, I guess.
Oops sorry, I haven’t seen it but I see around here there is not not too much interest depending who is “winner”....pity

Very interesting, where were Federer, Nadal, Novak and Murray at the age of Zverev?

https://www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/zverev-big-four-age-comparison-2018

Thanks for posting this. I just read it. Even though I am not a fan of Sasha, I am really impressed as to how closely he compares to the achievements of Big Four at his age. He actually did better than two of the big four in titles and better than three of the Big four in ranking.

Let us hope that he does not become like one of Big Four and cools off.

Stefanos Tsitsipas was voted the most improved player of the season. No surprise there.

That is not true. We all discussed it. In fact, there was a separate thread on it. Several players, including Novak and Isner came in defense of Roger. We quickly moved on as it was a "nothing burger".

How can you say nobody discussed it when there was a separate thread for it?

I think you're replying to Carol's post about the Roger controversy on the general news thread. This post from her was about the link to Zverev's achievements relative to the Big 4. Rather old.

Yep, I posted in the wrong thread.

Here's a trivia question: Who are the three players to finish the year in the ATP 100 at the age of 16?

There have been fourteen 17-year olds to finish in the ATP 100, including the three above.

What about Rublev and Shapovalov. I am mostly excited about these two. I am especially excited about Rublev. That guy has quite a forehand. And, it gets me excited everytime I see it. The intent is so offensive.

I really like Rublev and agree his forehand is a thing to behold, but don't see him as having the same upside as Shapovalov, Tsitsipas, or Zverev, not to mention Aliassime. He just seems too one-dimensional. But I could see him as being a very dangerous second tier type, oscillating in the #5-20 range for years to come, winning a Masters or two, maybe sneaking in a Slam.

I tried to be game with this, but I can't find them. Do you mean this year, or ever?

It is "ever" obviously. There have not been so young players in the top 100 in the last 20 years for sure.

Too early to predict how far they will go, for both Rublev and Shapovalov.

Sorry I'm a dope. Without wasting my life, I'm guessing Chang, Nadal and Shapavolov, then. At least we'll get an answer.

It's really too early on a lot of these kids. I was an early proponent of Rublev, but I don't think he has the upside of Shapo. And I like Denis a lot, but he's really got to get some discipline in his game. He plays tennis like a street skateboarder...with a lot of nerve and bravado, but he acts as if he doesn't care if he falls and cracks his head...and a lot of the time he falls and cracks his head.

Hey, at least you tried. You got one of three. Chang (#30 in 1988), Agassi (#91 in 1986), Krickstein (#94 in 1983).

Presumably Borg would have been top 100 in 1972 if they had ATP rankings.

Rafa was 17 in 2003, his first year finishing in the top 100, and Shapo was 18 in 2017.

Yeah, I figured Rafa and Shapo were too obvious, but I'll give myself credit for Chang, which was out of memory/likelihood. Krickstein was the surprise. Maybe I should have thought of Agassi. I would also have checked Hewitt...wasn't he an early bloomer? And Borg, for sure. Should we now do the 17-year olds? Clearly, you know who they are.
