Still a good result from Sascha as he broke the 4th round barrier. I think he's going to be scary on grass, possibly Fed's biggest threat if Roger is in good form.

Hopefully he can work it out and make a match of it.

Yeah, he's had a good tournament. Those 5 setters all add to the learning curve. The guy is going to win plenty of silverware down the track.

I hope I'm wrong, but I predict he'll have a disappointing Wimbledon (Zverev, not Federer).

If I'm Zverev, despite three back-to-back five setters against inferior players, and getting my clock cleaned by Thiem, I'm satisfied with the way this tournament went. It tested his mental and physical fortitude (the latter still needs work, maybe both do), but say what you will about those five setters, he won them all. Thiem is better on clay anyway, so it was always going to be an uphill battle. I think Zverev's results at majors for the rest of the year will continue to be inconsistent, BUT, I think next year is when he should finally make the leap.

Great rally a couple of points ago... Noticed a few improvements in Sascha's net game. I was typing this earlier (last set)... but he hit a horrendous volley... and it was put on hold.

So Im counting a lot of FEDAL support for Zverev whereas the Novak contingency is saying no thank you. Interesting.

I would have probably preferred Zverev over Thiem to face Djokovic, but then again I just like Thiem better than Zverev.

I'm actually completely indifferent on Zverev and don't think as highly of him as most do, but I still think he'll be successful. Not sure about major wins, but with the state of the tour, he might win a few. I wouldn't call myself a supporter though.

Impressive performance by Thiem. Totally bossed it from start to finish. Djokovic match will be huge. Only issue with Dom for me is stringing big back to back wins together. I'm not actually classing this Zverev match as one... but a war with Djoker doesn't read well for a potential final with Rafa.

Alex saves the bagel and settles for a breadstick instead.

at the risk of jinxing Thiem, no one can blame Zverev for preferring a breadstick to a bagel in Paris. It's Paris after all...

You think? I'm not really seeing too much evidence of it.

I was an early cheerleader of Sascha and I think he has a big future... but I can't get away from the fact that there are other players that I prefer watching. Frankly, Thiem is nicer on my eye than Sascha. I'm loving this Stefanos Tsitsipas kid. I think he's got a great future.

For a moment it looked like a bagel to Zverev in the third but he's managed to get on the board. But the result will be as predicted in the poll, even surprisingly easier than predicted.
Why is Zverev performing poorly in all majors? Surely, 2 times M1000 champion and established world #3, should have better aspiration at majors than a lonely one sided QF, with a quick exit... Is it lack of mental strength/strategy in best of 5 matches or rather running out of energy in a long tourney?
Eventually, like most others here, I think he has time to develop a GS winning strategy, he's still very young. It'd be sad if he stopped at his current stage.
