Clearly what happened is that Rafa was struggling, so the Powers That Be used their Weather Manipulator to give Rafa a chance to rest and recuperate, and also threaten Little Diego with pain and dismemberment of a family member if he didn't comply with The Plan.

You can play it down as much as you want, El dull, but anyone can see the rain break cost Diego the match.

The match is far from over.

Oh please. If dull wins the second set, the match is over.
For one who clearly thinks nothing of Nadal's tennis, or barely about actual tennis at all, it seems, you're pretty respectful of his ability to win this match.

Nadal would've rallied anyways but I better never again hear any complaining from the Rafa contingent that Fed is lucky with the rain. All based on one rain delay in 2008 when Fed was ahead 5-4 or 6-5 on serve in the 3rd set. A little different from this or the recent Rome final wouldn't you say?
I don't really remember a lot of Nadal fans complaining that Roger was lucky in that rain delay. It wasn't actually lucky, right? Wasn't he serving for the 3rd set? That wasn't a great time for him to stop. I don't think the rain delays helped him in that match, at all.

I HATE my crystal ball! I wanted the lottery numbers!
I have the same problem. I win little bits of things in raffles, etc. (I once won a chain saw!) But the lottery...never.

I think it is kind of funny that monfed thinks I'm a Rafa fan.

Nadal’s taping isn’t for injury, according to James Blake. He said Nadal was sweating on it and needed fresh tape applied. If the rain came 30 minutes later, DS would have had a small chance of winning the match, in my opinion.

I got to do what
I got to do to counter act all those voodoo dolls that you, GSM, Front, BB, KS and about 90 % of this board possess. The AntiRafa tribe had a great day.. I am glad you all enjoyed it at poor Rafa’s expense. I have contacted the Tennis gods and it will be sunny but cloudy on Thursday.
Haha. I don't need no friggin voodoo doll to banish the Bull. If you don't know, you better ask somebody. :lightning:

That was Blake guessing. I've never seen someone have both wrists taped for sweat. You might want to wait that out for confirmation. And you might want to wait out the rest of the match. The 2nd set isn't even finished.

As almost everybody, if Rafa wins he'll say at the press that his wrist is perfectly normal and the bandage is just a cosmetic or even fashion item. But if he loses, he'll be complaining that his wrist aches and blaming the result on it, even talking about taking a rest from grass for much needed recuperation.

But if Rafa does lose, we'll have to listen to you lot forever saying that it couldn't possibly have been a wrist injury.

Look, stop making Rafa or any of them to be whiners. Like you said, they sometimes hint at injury when they lose. ALL of the top 4 have done it. But they mostly try to be gracious and not make it about anything other than the other player's good play. (With some exceptions, and Fed is one of them.)

I cannot say for others, but no, that would no be me.
I admit I unfortunately made them "whiners" while trying to express a truth about human nature generally, in a bit humorous way. But taken seriously, the injuries are tough to deal properly and politically correct both on court and in post-match debrief. In such context, I see in retrospect that my comment indeed appears too frivolous. So I do apologise for my frivolousness.

They all did, loudest being Kieran and MikeOne. The score was 5-4 I'm pretty sure, so basically those guys thought Roger was sure to be broken next service game or would've played a worse tiebreak had it not rained. By then Roger had gone from ridiculously awful for 2.5 sets to looking a little more like himself, but don't tell them that.

All it took was one rain delay for Nadal and Tyrion to remember who they are. What a shame.

I got to stop watching in the morning. Mr. Blue Collar is deadly every time I tune in. Last thing in the world I'd ever want to be is a good luck charm for peasant boy.
