I hate to be painful, but I will point out how long it took Novak to get over the hump of a winning record against each of them, which happened when they were both pretty lame. He did get there, though, to his credit, by a little. And yes, he lost a lot of ground last year, in the hunt. Since we haven't had much participation from Nole fans for a while, I'd be curious as to your take on his injury/motivation issues over the last some 20 months, including his personnel changes. Let's face it, it was kind of a weirdly long walkabout.
That’s right. The governing body outlined a way to distribute cash prize and points so that players are less motivated to show up injured. I don’t know whether the proposal is in effect at this AO. I’m in favor of whatever keeps Stan in the draw.
You know the answer very well. Novak was playing Fedal in their prime when he was still a pup, it takes time to catch up which he did logically when he himself got into his prime. And if you play over 50 matches against both I think we can say we have a fair mensure of who is the better player between them. Fedal just managed to reel in some slam titles before Novak got started. Still last year is unfortunate, let’s hope the elbow issue does manage to go away.
Novak has a positive h2h against both. That in itself is impressive considering he has over 50 matches against them each. Nobody else can say that. The guy is a few months younger than Nadal and that's it. Old man Fed has spanked him like a red headed stepchild on many occasions in Novak's absolute prime years the h2h really is nothing too impressive from Novak's point of view. If he was as amazing as some people make out, then he should 10 matches ahead of a geriatric.
Spanking meaning the manor in which he the way Juan hit the ball that day vs Fed .Spanked by JMDP? You mean the match where Roger was serving for a 2 set lead, was up 2 sets to 1, was 2 points from winning the match? That spanking?
Every year we go through the same ole scenarios, Everyone is worried about Crazy Nick who usually exits most grandslams early before the 2nd week begins. Why all the bitchin over if he moves, TMF can handle a jaded Nicky by the 2nd week in the tournament. Nicky will look for a way out because I truly don’t believe he wants to win a championship. What idiot made up these rules??!!! If Wawrinka withdraws, Kyrgios moves to Fed’s half. The only dangerous opponent gets removed from Nadal’s path. This could be USO all over again where Murray messed up the draw. Does anyone know how much time Wawrinka has before a lucky loser replaces him?
Nadal can easily handle him too on hard courts. He may struggle on grass though.Every year we go through the same ole scenarios, Everyone is worried about Crazy Nick who usually exits most grandslams early before the 2nd week begins. Not to be tiresome, but you're compressing the timeline more than a bit of when he finally caught up. Djokovic's prime started in 2011, if we leave off the '08 AO. Yet it took him until late 2015 to catch Rafa and into 2016 to pass Roger, though I think he tied him at some point before that. As to this: "Fedal just managed to reel in some slam titles before Novak got started." Now seriously, even as a big Nole fan, you don't really want to say they were just scooping up Majors because Novak wasn't top drawer yet, do you? By the time he hit his stride in '11, they had 26 between them, IIRC.You know the answer very well. I would have to guess they won't make major changes at this point. The schedule is out. Therefore we are now in discretion territory. i.e., if anyone withdraws now, it is up to the discretion of the tournament organizers as to whether to rebalance the draw or not.
I’m disappointed Chung drew M Zverev in round one. I would have liked to see the Korean win a few rounds.
I agree with Fiero that you can't count Chung out on that one. He's got some fire power and he's a pretty smart player.I’m disappointed Chung drew M Zverev in round one. I would have liked to see the Korean win a few rounds.
By the way, Chung did win. (M. Zverev carrying an injury, if that's relevant, but we didn't know that.) Anyway, good for Chung!I agree with Fiero that you can't count Chung out on that one. He's got some fire power and he's a pretty smart player.

If Chung wins one more match, he will face Sasha (Chung is winner of Milan Model and Sasha did not go there despite being eligible).
