Must be time to re-activate at least one of those PC threads.

Edmund can't hit those serves out wide - Cilic is feasting on them.

I could see this turned into a slaughter.

I'm guessing this match isn't getting a ton of viewing outside of England and Croatia.

what's up with Cilic and his leg? Keeps flexing it. It's not going to be cry baby-gate again is it?

Don't think he would crybabygate this one, because this should be a relatively easy match for him.

no I mean is he setting up for crybabygate in the final. Easier narrative, than Federer is just better than him

Edmund is put back in his place. This doesn't feel like a SF, more like a routine 2R or 3R match for a top 10 player (Cilic) cruising by a #40-50 player (Edmund). Hard to believe this is the guy that beat Grigor...he doesn't look terrible, just a bit lack-luster.

Ah right, thinking ahead ;-). Of course Roger has to get past the "Korean Novak" (sarcasm intended).

unfortunately, I suspect the British press have done a job on him and made him realise what he's doing is potentially historic. I had hopes, but I'm not exactly surprised by this

yup. I'll be shocked if that one isn't relatively comfortable for Roger. Unless the guy has Novak quality returning, and a better serve than I think he does

Edmond's great run ends here. Cilic is hitting the ball really hard.

I'm amazed that some Fed fans think Chung is going to be a tougher out than Marin. This guy worries me

Yep, agreed. Marin far more dangerous than Chung, at least at this point. There's a bit of a bandwagon thing going on with Chung and Edmund. Not that these guys don't have bright futures (although I'm not convinced either will ever win Slams, especially Edmund), just that it is easy to get wrapped up in the moment (see, "Janowicz, Jerzy").

Anyhow, off to be bed. I'd be very surprised if Marin doesn't wrap this up in three relatively easy sets.

Yes. I am one of them. The problem with Chung is that he has nothing to lose. I agree that Cilic is also a threat, especially if the US Open 2014 version shows up in the final. Besides his serve, he can hit screamers from the back court when he is in the zone.

that's not new though. All of these guys who've faced Roger have had nothing to lose, hasn't made a difference. I think people are getting too caught up in the fact he beat Novak. If not for that we would all expect business as usual. There's a mental expectation that Novak has whenever he faces Roger that this kid, as good as he is will not have. Deep deep down he'll doubt he can beat Roger. Novak, knows he can beat Roger. It's a very subtle but important difference

What is it with the British press? They also manage to ruin the chances of the English teams at football world and European cups. Creating such a narrative that completely ruins the focus and winning atmosphere.

I agree that Chung could be overawed by playing against the most gifted player to play the game. Roger has to make sure that he does not allow the young man to gain any confidence, and if he does that, then the match could be over in three sets.

they're focused on selling papers mate. Falls from grace are better copy. They'll build a player up, and are perfectly happy with an unfortunate outcome sadly
