True, although part of me thinks he may go easy on his old friend seeing as it's his final year on tour. Allow him the limelight as a German playing at home for the last time, etc. Who knows.

He may be happy with playing 3 sets against Haas and throwing him the win as he still has Halle. We'll see.

Haas played yet?He wins he meets Roger, no? Highest average age in a match in the open era? :)

Nope. I'm sure there are a bunch, but 42-year old Pancho Gonzales played 35-year old Ken Rosewall in 1970 (avg 38.5).

Another: 43-year old Ken Rosewall played 34-year old Arthur Ashe in 1978 (avg 38.5).

Another: 42-year old Ken Rosewall played 35-year old Marty Riessen in 1977 (avg 38.5).

Not sure if there are any older matchups...I just checked Pancho and Muscles.

When will Wimbledon grass begin to be like Halle or Stuttgart. Tournaments should make the courts diverse. That is how specialists will have a role and the sport can be saved from monotony. If UK is going to be like this, then what to expect of others. I am glad Oz open sped up RLA this year. It was great. On another note, I think Rafa could do well at Wimbledon looking at his results at Oz Open under fast conditions.

I swear to god I thought my TV was playing the match fast forward...
I got so habituated with clay tennis this seems so fast. Roger definitely did his homework, he looks great on court.

He is so quick that some of his service games are lasting less than a minute.

Federer/Haas match looks a bit too friendly to draw any conclusion but shot making wise Federer looks quite good for a guy out for three months.

Why can't a conclusion be made? It's not an exhibition right. No matter how friendly they might seem it is after all a competitive match.

^You can always draw a conclusion, but after the first set (when I wrote), there were not too many pressure moments. Haas upped the intensity on the third and it is much more competitive, with Federer making some errors (typical of the lack of match play).

DF on set point against was pretty un-Federer like. But Tommy's playing better, too.

He's almost too good of friends with Haas. 6-2 and 2-0 up on grass should be lights out. Hope he gets it together, he needs match practice so a loss here would be a disaster.
