So, Maestero hits 65 winners in a 92 minute match. That is one winner in every 1.5 minutes. :lolz

We now got an All Swiss SF #1.

Fed leads Stan 18-3. Stan has never won against Roger on a surface other than clay.

p.s. Also Roger brought on SABR move successfully in the last set at least three times.

Okay, I will be optimistic about the match against stan. Federer has been playing so well himself. He should have a reasonable chance of reaching the final now. I am pleased. [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

Let's hope Roger can find the keys to the win again.

Who would have thought Roger would make the semis now? Seeded no. 17, first tournament in 6 months. Then he takes out 2 top 10 level players and reaches semis. Hats off, Roger.

Its going to be tough against stan but I will be hopeful. :)

I couldn't watch the match, I was "studying" all night. Was Roger in god mode? Good lord man, 65 winners in an hour and a half.
Can't wait to watch the highlights.
I will go bold here and predict that Fed is going to murder Stan in straight sets. He is literally the worst possible matchup for him. The net rushes and variety are what kills him, and the conditions are clearly faster than ever on plexicushion.

I wish I was half as confident as you guys. Wawrinka is playing quite well, and if you look at the last few years their matches have been quite competitive. The H2H is misleading as things stands now. Wawrinka is the higher ranked player, hand has won three majors since Federer's won his last, so I guess he is in fact the favorite. He is also a step above Nishikori and Berdych in terms of opposition for Federer, even if the same also applies the other way around.

Why are the conditions faster this year in Melbourne? Did they change the tennis balls or the surface?

I guess it's a little bit faster but Bagman complained it was too slow...

Surprising that Baghdatis says they are slow. Maybe it's because he hasn't played that much tennis recently due to injuries.

saw the first set. stan wasnt playing anything close to the way hes played in GS finals. he was just putting balls back in play and letting tsonga self destruct. idk what his strategy was but if hes gonna be that conservative then were seeing fed in the finals. someone did mention maybe he wanted to save energy but makes no sense to me. you know your most probably playing fed in SF at that point why not work/practice and be aggressive since thats the tactic that has won you slams and helps you beat the elite consistently?? not sure how he played the rest of match

Stan became a Man at the 2014 AO. Let me restrict their H2H to only the matches that Stan played as a Man. Even then Fed leads their H2H 5-2.

Here is the H2H of Stan The Man vs. Fed (all Stan the Boy matches are removed).

2015 ATP World Tour Finals SF Hard Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka 7-5 6-3
2015 US Open SF Hard Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka 6-4 6-3 6-1
2015 FO - RG QF Clay Stan Wawrinka Roger Federer 6-4 6-3 7-6(4)
2015 Rome Masters SF Clay Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka 6-4 6-2
2014 ATP World Tour Finals SF Hard Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka 4-6 7-5 7-6(6)
2014 Wimbledon QF Grass Roger Federer Stan Wawrinka 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4 6-4
2014 Monte Carlo Masters F Clay Stan Wawrinka Roger Federer 4-6 7-6(5) 6-2
