Istomin is glorious as a pusher. Djoke has trouble with pushers; it forces him to attack and wear himself out. He is not used to attacking continuously. I have seen only two Djoke v Istomin matches. In both, Djoke was beside himself with frustration. This is a valid strategy to playing him.

Yes, Istomin played well. But Novak would have beaten him if he had been able to muster his A-game. I think that's the point with Novak's so-called "decline": he isn't able to reach as deep to find the win.

About the loss Novak suffered last night, I did not see it. I am utterly disappointed, this is his worst loss in a slam, period.
When he won the second set, I went to bed.
I am sure he will regroup, but I agree that his reign as number one is now over.

Murray must be doing a happy dance. He will likely be ahead of Djoke by 2-3 thousand points when rankings come out.
