heavy favorite is obviously Djokovic but I like Andy's chances this year also.

he is in the process of tuning up his ground game on the red clay which is going to give him significant confidence on other surfaces.

It's too soon to think about Wimbledon for me, CD, with my head fully in RG, but here are a couple of favs:

Welcome to the Grass Court Season! A welcome week longer. Hopefully we will get a Masters during this swing one day in the future.

was looking at Wimbledon official site and found out somewhere via pdf dated may26th (?) del potro had a protected rank of 8.

that can't mean he is going to be seeded 8 can it ?.

I guess it could although it will also be subject to the grass court algorithm... shouldn't affect him all that much though. He'll still be seeded high.

The protected ranking gets him into the main draw, but is not used for seeding purposes, as I understand it. (The ATP rules state this explicitly, but I know they don't govern the Majors.) He doesn't have to go through qualifying and will be placed randomly with the other seeded players, once they get past the top 8, is it? Or 16?

Or, right...then there's that. But as I understand it, he won't be seeded #8. It only means he doesn't have to qualify, and is automatically seeded. As I understand "protected ranking," it gives the privileges of the old ranking, but doesn't award the old ranking. Does that make sense?

I don't think Rafa will be ready to play in Wimbledon. First he had to keep his wrist immobilized for awhile, then if he would feel ok he needs to start to practice and obviously after to withdraw Queens it means that his first tournament would be Wimbledon and I don't think he would have enough time to be completely fitted
I wouldn't mind if he skips the OG and then to have a good preparation for HC and focus for the USO

Rafa already pulled out of Queens, so it's pretty unlikely he plays Wimbledon without any tune-ups. I wonder if he goes to Rio?
