And the worst match of the year award goes to...

Terrible match alright but in winning his 28th masters I doubt Novak or his fans care too much. Off to a flying start already this year.

Because unfortunately he had a very bad knee injury, I wish he didn't then many things would have been very different starting with your idol who wouldn't won a couple of GS :p

What very bad knee injury might that have been? Please enlighten us.

He was so injured, he only won three slams in a row that summer.

And I respond, what year are you talking about and then I could enlighten to both of you? ;)

I wish it had been better, but happy with the result of course.

14/22 and 10/29 winners to unforced errors for Novak and Kei respectively. Terrible stats for both, especially Kei.

Kei consider this as a moral victory, as he completed the match without having to retire :cover

When was the last time there was a simultaneous IW-M double by both men and women? My guess is never.

Don't forget Nadal's knee "injury" in Wimbledon 2010 where he took multiple medical timeouts against Petzschner when losing naturally and went on to win the title. Yeah, his knee must have been killing him alright.

Well after today, Rafa will own the 2nd most Masters championships. :snicker

After all bad times he has gone through it's amazing!!! :clap

Congrats to Nole on an amazing feat. Well deserved. As a Roger fan though, I cannot help but think how those numbers would look if there was even just one Masters played on grass...:s

110% for a grass court Masters 1000. Have been for many years. One day....

I can see it now. They'll introduce one in 2020 and Gollum will win it every year. :cover

The only way Novak is going to lose to anyone at this point (aside from injury) is if someone is able to get under his skin. I just don't see anyone on tour capable of doing that right now.

I think Novak's biggest opponent this year will not be who is across the net, but all that is on the line - completing the promise to his coach who passed away and winning in Paris, completing the career GS, completing the Nole slam, the Calendar Slam, the Golden Calendar Slam etc - and he is, on current form, kind of expected to do all of this. I mean, it will be a surprise, and considered somewhat of a failure/missed opportunity, if he doesn't. This is also the year that could define whether he breaks Roger's records and becomes known as the greatest player of all time. He needs to make hay while the sun shines. If he wins all 4 majors this year, he'll only be 3 behind Fed and have a really good shot at beating his slam tally, but if Novak underperforms and wins only, say, 2 slams this year, then I doubt he's going to be able to surpass Roger. There is so much on the line for Novak this year. That's the issue more likely to 'get under his skin', as you put it, at some point this year than any opponent, IMO.

If he does achieve all he looks able to this year, my admiration for his ability to play under pressure will go through the roof. It's going to be fun to watch how he handles it all...:popcorn
