Sure Vika plays Serena better at times, but it hasn't gotten her anywhere. Maria at least for now can say she has beaten Serena at a slam.

The TIU Should investigate this. This is the true match fixing. Only difference is that the winner is in charge of fixing the match. :laydownlaughing

As I was watching them earlier, I kept thinking, "Look at Maria running around. She doesn't even realize the point is already over."

But that's a matchup thing RB. Vika matches up better against Serena because of her return, mobility and willingness to come to net. Maria's game is the same as it ever was, blast away and hope that most of them find their mark

I hear ya, but I also think it's mental strength. Maria may be mentally strong against most, but against Serena she is a borderline nobody. Look at how she wilted today. I mean even Ferrer has a better record against Rafa. Masha has 5 slams, I think she is good enough to be held accountable for a glaring weakness. Match-ups are won thing, but she hasn't one in a decade, and I think they said she hadn't won a set in their last six matches (now seven).

That's Jason Goodall. He's excellent.

Exactly! The thing about the Vika match up, although Vika challenges Serena, it is dependent on whether Serena wants to turn it on early and retain that level. In all of Vika's losses to Serena last year, Serena turned it on, and when she does, a competitive match is no longer competitive.

That's Jason Goodall. He does alot of commentating for the ATP regular tour events. He's on loan for slams that ESPN carries.

why are these people analyzing Serena s game and never analyze Roger or Joko...just tired of listening to Evert...very incompetent commentary. She is obsessed with Serena...borderline stalker....comes off as very jealous of Serena ...every match played she has to say something about Serena...someone has to start a petition about her Serena obsession.

Don't know whether this is mentioned here.

Now Sharapova ranks in #2 in longest losing streak to the same player.

#1 is a 21-0 streak between Steffi Graf vs Nathalie Tauziat.

To be fair, Sharapova's 18 consecutive losses does not give her unique #2 position.
She shares it with two other players.

1. Ashe lost 18 times to Laver consecutively.
2. Berdych lost to Rafa 18 times in a row.

However, Berdych ended his streak when he won against Rafa in AO last year. But, Maria's streak is active. Hopefully before the end of this year, Maria can grab the #1 spot. She needs 4 more thrashings to get there. :devil

Maria looks so sad.

She has no right to be sad, disappointed, or surprised. She has had a decade to do something to avoid this, but has done nothing fruitful. She deserves every one of these losses.

Did it every occur to you that she has tried, but Serena is to darn good. Not only that if someone beat you 18 times is has to play with your mind. Chris Evert was double talking so much last night and contradicting herself constantly. Sometimes they should just shut up.

I bet you Chrissy is busy taking shot after shot of vodka to calm herself down after her predicted winner and favorites are knocked out in 24hrs...someone should keep an eye on her..
