And day 3 begins with rain.   So there are only 3 matches being played at the start of the day.

Simon played another five-setter. Surely he has the record of playing most 5 setters in history.

I tell you what, I only now know how Nadal's fans feel when No1e loses in Round 1 of a slam. It's so boring without Rafa around, now I must find someone else to hate. ;-)

I don't think Nole has lost in the first round of a slam in some while.  But at least you're honest about your hatred.  I suppose you will likely find a way to assuage your boredom.  B-)

He had set point in the tiebreak and just couldn't push through.  Then he double-faulted when Raonic had set point.  That was ugly.

Interesting stat...of 27 players to have defeated Nadal prior to final since of 13' only 5 have gone on to win next match?

Kyrgios plays Berdych today.   It could be explosive.

What a surprise...Tabasco's unable to be good 2 days in a row, he's a party boy who plays tennis : girls, night clubs good food etc ...thats' what he's busy with. Nobody can tell how good he would be if he was only  focused on tennis  A real waste of talent

Whoever understands about tennis whoever has to know that Verdasco rarely wins two matches in a row, he could be one day very inspired and more if his opponent doesn't play well but usually loses the next round, I've seen that for years and not because he is party or has crazy life but because his head can't do more than that, he is a real 'bobble head' same like Almagro, Berdych, Almagro and sometimes Muzz

Yes those are two potentially good matches. Hope Berdy wins, agnostic about the other one but leaning towards the Bulgarian.

I was disappointed when in 2010 in one of the clay court tournaments in 2010 Verdasco beat No1e in 3 sets and next day he lost the final with Rafa winning only 1 game.

I thought the post offered plenty of humour, but disappointed it wasn't understood that way.

This kid Thiem is really good. He may lose today (he is trailing 1x2), but has a monster of a forehand and a monster of a backhand. If I had to bet on some of the young guys, it would be on him.

Unfortunately, brazilian TV stopped to broadcast his match and changed to Sharapova. Sigh.
