Like I said I would prefer Serena to win this match and not Venus. If Venus win this match there's no guaranteed she will win the title (no guaranteed for Serena either) or the next match for that matter. However, Serena has a better chance of getting to the final and winning the entire thing than Venus. Now, if Venus did not have that illness I would not care who win this match because I know either one would have a chance of making it to the final and winning.

Let us assume your contention that if Serena wins this match she is highly likely to win the title and even if Venus wins the title she is highly unlikely to win the title. Even under such assumptions, who wins the title here is not relevant. Venus should play and will play to win this match.

I said Serena has a better chance of getting to the final. Yes it is relevant who wins this match tomorrow. I have to look ahead because this match tomorrow is forcing me to do that. Venus is inconsistent and not dependable. As much as I love both these girls, my alliance right now lies with Serena.

I agree with you that Serena has better chance of progressing further and possibly win as well, if she wins tomorrow. I also agree that Venus is not dependable. In fact, given that the ladies QF is played right next day and the opponent is Vika/Belinda, I would not be surprised if Venus loses right in QF itself.

However, what happens in the rest of the tournament should not be and will not be a consideration for Venus in tomorrow's match. We are not trying to figure out what will be good for the Willams's family here. Each for their own. Go V!

You can root for whomever you want & for whatever reasons; that is your right. However, some of the fan's reasons do not really form an analysis of the impending match. What I am saying is that Venus will not get into those considerations and play for win (whether or not she is able to win).
What is good for the family is not part of the analysis, unless you believe it is a family decision like Dementieva. But, what is good for the family can certainly be the basis for you rooting for Rena.

I think Venus will win. Seems weird, almost like Serena's resigned herself to losing the way she's going on a Venus worship in comments this past few days.

She has always showered her sister adulations that's nothing new.

That's true. Plus, it's one thing to behave that way off court, but on court, Serena will focus on winning -- especially at a Major of such importance.

I think Serena will win, but it will be another three setter.

Bad news to Serena fans. Tignor has picked Serena to win this match.
You might recall that he picked Kvitova, Kerber and Liscki to win on Saturday.

Serena Williams: 1/4 Venus Williams 19/5 odds according to betting hourses.

Roughly speaking, they are giving 80% chance to Serena and 20% chance to Venus.

Pulled up their 2009 Wimbledon match. A lot has changed since then. Sure hope they can both play their best today.

Typically, Serena vs Venus doesn't produce the best tennis. Serena in 3 but wouldn't be surprisedI if Venus pulls out the upset because Venus has been playing great the last two years at Wimbledon , whereas Serena expense a ton of energy vs the hometown inspired Heather Watson

Serena had two days off after that match with Heather, so I don't expect energy to be the issue if Serena is to be upset. I think motivation and nerves will be the factor with Serena. I think we will be able to tell quickly how the match is going to unfold.

I just do not know why people always insinuate that they do not produce great matches. Pls tell me how are they matches any different from playing other opponents. They both go after each other when they play. Just don't get it.

It's just an opinion, typically both are nervous and their play has a lot of sloppy ufes, it's really true..have we ever seen a match between these two like Serena vs Heather Watson,Serena vs Vika , or Venus vs Petra , Venus vs Davenport .That's all I am saying, you don't have to agree but I am being objective because I am one of the Sisters biggest followers for the past 15 plus years.

In the beginning Special, they didn't go after each other. But in the last 6-7 years they have matured and definitely leave it all out there.

Their matches in the last few years have been great. My favorite was 2008 U.S. Open. There were so many incredible points during that match.

They played one at the YEC in the RR that was pretty dramatic. I also thought that USO QF Sunday mentioned was one of the best matches they ever played. Venus had chances in both sets to win it, but ultimately Serena prevailed in the TB's.

Hopefully, Serena keeps the focus and gets this done in two as whoever wins has to come back and play tomorrow.
