RE: 2015 Wimbledon R16 - S. Williams vs. V. Williams
I agree with you that Serena has better chance of progressing further and possibly win as well, if she wins tomorrow. I also agree that Venus is not dependable. In fact, given that the ladies QF is played right next day and the opponent is Vika/Belinda, I would not be surprised if Venus loses right in QF itself.
However, what happens in the rest of the tournament should not be and will not be a consideration for Venus in tomorrow's match. We are not trying to figure out what will be good for the Willams's family here. Each for their own. Go V!

If Venus win this match there's no guaranteed she will win the title (no guaranteed for Serena either) or the next match for that matter. However, Serena has a better chance of getting to the final and winning the entire thing than Venus. Now, if Venus did not have that illness I would not care who win this match because I know either one would have a chance of making it to the final and winning.
Let us assume your contention that if Serena wins this match she is highly likely to win the title and even if Venus wins the title she is highly unlikely to win the title. Even under such assumptions, who wins the title here is not relevant. Venus should play and will play to win this match.
I said Serena has a better chance of getting to the final. Yes it is relevant who wins this match tomorrow. I have to look ahead because this match tomorrow is forcing me to do that. Venus is inconsistent and not dependable. As much as I love both these girls, my alliance right now lies with Serena.
