2015 Wimbledon R16 - S. Williams vs. V. Williams
Normally, the admins start special threads for individual matches only from QF onwards. But, this one is so special that it deserves its own thread as it pits two five-time Wimbledon Singles Champion who together also have five Wimbledon Doubles Trophies. These two have not met in any GS at any stage since 2009 Wimbledon final, which was won by Serena; that is a long time. The head to head is 14-11 in favor of Serena, 7-5 in grandslam matches in favor of Serena and 3-2 in favor of Serena on grass. But, their most recent meeting, last summer in Montreal was won by Venus.
Venus has not lost a single set so far and she is looking good with respect to her form. Serena is definitely not playing as well as she can, partly due to pacing herself and partly due to the pressure of Serena Slam. Other girls of WTA might fold like a cheap tent against Serena when it comes to crunch time, but I guess Venus won't. If someone can capitalize on Serena's nervousness it will be Venus.
Even though the autoimmune disease might sap the energy, I am expecting it to not play a role here. The two days rest should especially help Venus.
