Why So Serious? said:DarthFed said:Roger will be nowhere to be found at AO or RG from here on out. The question is whether or not he shows up big at any GS going forward. He was a major disappointment this year, especially at the slams. Also, you tend to overrate the crowd's impact on the match and the crowd has been heavily in Roger's favor for the better part of a decade, that won't change.
You are right that I overrate the crowd's impact in the sense that they only made Djokovic want to win more, but there was no doubt whatsoever that it affected him. Any Djokovic fan could see that. He looked very close to choking in the third and fourth sets but somehow held on. Take Wimbledon where the crowd wasn't such hooligans and Djokovic put in a much cleaner performance. But of course, there was also his final history at the USO in the back of his mind. Overall it was an extremely impressive win under the conditions and I plan on writing another blog post about it later today.
I just can't say enough good things about this win. It was probably the single most impressive performance I have ever seen by anyone, and I have watched tennis for a long time.
Oh and I don't agree at all that Federer was a major disappointment this year. Especially at the slams where he made two consecutive finals. It's the first time he's done that since 2010 probably. And that at age 34. Very impressive.
Exaggerate much ? :cover
