Rafa got really tentative when it mattered most. Not used to that...

Where you been the last 12 months? :snicker

40 winners and 40 unforced errors for Tsonga v 22/17 for Nadal.

Definitely the best week for both men this year, in terms of their level, and I have to hand it to JWT the way he didn't go away in the third. A crazy stat popped up on screen at 5-5, Rafa at 85% first serves, for the set, JWT at 86%. Both of them missed first serves in the next two games but the level was high. Rafa can be proud of himself, the old aggression and fire and calm was there again, and it's a huge step forward, even from last week.

JWT too, although it's asking a lot for him to play so well again tomorrow...

With that win, Tsonga will be back in the Top Ten next week!

I didn't know that, but this was quite a win for him. It's been about a year, I think, since he's been in the Top 10.

I'm sure he can play better than set 2 anyway :p

Going back to bed... Taping the other semifinal. Will read your comments to see if it's a good one or another Djo-ray game of 'Pong'. G'night guys.

I was going to finish my post with "....yet", but chose to refrain.

In fairness, it was a more "normal" sort of tentative this time, because the score was so close. It wasn't his usual 2015 version of Prince Hamlet Nadal, scratching his head and fearful, holding the dagger but thoroughly scared to wield it. He was a tad conservative at times, but not more than he would have been in the same situation in 2013, imho...

The score just reflects how an erratic player JWT is. Out of nowhere he can surprise us all. Probably even himself.

He's had a ton of bad losses versus Murray.

In fairness to Tsonga, he might have fallen away too quick in the second set and decided to let it go, and come back strong in the third set, which happened...

I haven't seen any match but at least I see that Rafa (even losing the semis) and Tsonga are playing much better than the previous months so I'm glad that the Tour is getting more interesting!

He is also the first alternate in London as of now having reached #9 in race. If he can hold on to it, he will get some extra cash.

Is Jo Willie moving to WTA?

Technically you can say this about a number of players; esp. Tsonga and Wawrinka! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

So after to win 6-0 the second set then Rafa lost the third for a couple of points? come on, who was more erratic? what was wrong with Rafa after to play so well the previous matches? :nono
Anyway, I see that his improvement is very obvious so I expect much better results of him if not this year then the next one
