Glad to hear about all these injuries. The other day I read that Federer was tired when Cilic beat him at the USO, otherwise he'd have won. So happy to read all this, because normally it's Rafa fans making excuses.

Or so we're always told... ;)

Well it's their own fault...that is the reason they keep trying and trying....they win when the are in their best form. Another thing I forgot that Nole has as a weapon this year: Stefan.;)

BTW: I can't access the next page of this thread, so I am not even sure if this post will go through.:puzzled

Yeah, it's OK now. Although it is a bit strange as your previous post appeared on page 11 briefly, but now I see that my post is actually the first one on the page.

Anyway, good night all.:D

I'd like to know if some people knows to see the difference between a discomfort (most of the athletes have) and an injury which makes them to be out of the court and practice for long time (and not just for a couple of weeks) and what we could say after a surgery :exclamation:
No further questions

Got it. Just wondering if Rafa's appendicitis will be the cause if he loses RG this year....

Honestly when I read some of the posts it's like people think that robots play this game and not human beings.

Is it Robak Djokobot? Or Nobot Robovic? Watching these guys play, I think they might actually be superior to robots!

I hope Novak focusses on winning tomorrow and then focusses 100% on RG. Madrid and Rome should be treated as training.

During that training period, I hope he makes sure to defeat Rafa at least once more, to keep his confidence at the same level:cool:

Exactly. I can see the wisdom in Denis thinking, but remember 2013? Similar win as today, then Rafa built up a head of steam. Remember 2011? Had he faced Rafa in the final, he's got all the swagger and juice of them victories. Imagine if Nole beat Rafa in Madrid and Rome too, would be a huge setback morally for Rafa.

By the way, just to be honest, I actually like Nole, I think he's great for the game, and if he won in Paris I wouldn't begrudge him. I compare him easily to Federer and Rafa in this era, he's a great player and a character for our sport, he works his socks off, addresses his weaknesses and makes himself as great as he can be. I applaud the guy, and I'm looking forward to how he faces this huge challenge ahead, cos let's face it, beating Rafa in an RG final is like ascending Everest with no oxygen...

Might even be harder than that.

Carol, to answer your post, it takes about 4-5 months of rigorous conditional training for a top flight athlete like Rafa or let's say Kobe Bryant to get back to level of fitness they need to be at to compete at their level. I think another month and Rafa will be match tough and conditional fit to compete for a grand slam. No way he was going to win AO or defeat Novak at this point.

Question though:

He has only been out of competition for relatively short periods of time. The appendix, after Wimbledon, last year. That's enough to throw you off 4-5 months? I think there is a little more to it...

Exactly, anyone who knows something about injuries (not a discomfort) and getting a surgery he/she must to know what hard is comeback and to get the rhythm and confidence again. These athletes need to practice every single day even when they are in vacations they do and when they can't do it for
awhile (more than two weeks ) it affect them considerably, can you imagine for more than one month?
I think that Rafa is doing well but watching Novak/Berdych I see that his level is still far of where it has to be, otherwise he would have won perfectly well

Honey, watch the match from yesterday one more time. Novak's level yesterday was a lot higher than it is against Berdych today. If Novak were playing like this yesterday, Rafa would be in the final today. :snicker.

You're being overly negative. Different player, different match.

Dear, don't you think Berdych's level is a lot higher than Rafa yesterday and that's why Novak has to work harder for the first time in this tounament? :snicker
