I know Moxie(that's cool)as you say after Andy prevented Nishikori today.Andy let rip on Nishikori second serve today, also Andy made some balls go high,& Nishikori did not like that.Andy's also playing now without pain in his back,i think we can see that now.Fingers crossed Andy stays this way.

I agree, Sid. I hope Andy has a great year, he deserves it. I kinda felt the Kei bubble wasn't made of lead and might burst. Didn't see the match though. Break in each set? Could still be a close match, despite the score...

Interestingly, as of now no one has voted for Murray in two.

:snicker

Have you seen Kei hitting the ball??

Sure, but I always worry about Kei's endurance, plus the head-to-head is in Andy's favor.

Also, naturally someone voted for Murray in two since I posted that.

I think Carol deserves to congratulated for being the only person who called this correctly: Murray in straights. :clap

Thanks Tented ;) though in one way I would have preferred to see Nishi in the final but Muzz (for the first time that I remember) is playing very well on clay

Wait, clay GOAT Samurai Nishikori who's here to challenge the top 4 for years to come and is Nadal's nightmare on the dirt lost to Murray? I am absolutely shocked.

If Kei plays like last year there's no chance Murray will win and a good chance Nadal won't either.

This is a rich comment by any standard and on its own merits, but even more hilarious in hindsight.

You seemed to not read the word if. He clearly did not play anything like he did last year. I see zero hilarity here other than you not even reading my post properly and then posting what you deemed a witty retort when in fact it just looks plain stupid. :cover

Yeah, after 10 years on tour, Murray gets into his first two clay finals in as many weeks. Who would have predicted that?

The only thing "plain stupid" is implying the greatest clay courter of all time might have no chance against Kei Nishikori. GTFO.

I think you left a capital H out of the end of that...

Glad for Murray to get a good win but am I the only one that thinks that Nishikori would have given Nadal a tougher match than Murray will tomorrow?

Prove me wrong Murray!

I saw a post daring anyone to challenge Rafa's omniscience on clay, even though Kei worked him for a set and a half last season at this very tourney! :nono :puzzled  :dodgy: :cover - I would have loved to see Nishikori instead; esp. since Murray falls back into his patterns of just trying to wait out his opponent!  :dodgy: - He can do so much more! :-/

as I said at munich open tourney murray won..clayiconandy wins on clay  yet again.

I don't like the way its set up in Madrid . its like a usopen style super Saturday..1st mens sf, womens f, 2nd mens sf. good news is after normal service resuming for nadal v skeletor (fairly easy win), murray also had a similar victory a long 2nd sf late into night would have damaged the prospects of a decent final (unless your idea of a decent final is nadal wasting murray 6-3, 6-1.

its refreshing seeing andy get a title last week and at least a final here,:) 1st ever masters clay final isn't it ?..cannot be arsed to check but I don't recall any..

And do you think that Rafa was playing well last year losing against Almagro, Ferru and almost against Nishi? of course Nish had the opportunity to beat Rafa (only in Madrid) but for one reason or another he couldn't. Sorry but I don't see he is still a threat for Nadal, Roger or Novak, not yet but we'll see in the future

That's my boy!

A pleasant surprise to check the internet this morning and see that he's taken such a routine victory over someone who is very dangerous on this surface.

It's good to be saying that Murray is actually playing good clay court tennis without having to add the "by his standards" to the end of the sentence.

He injured his hip and leg. I don't see him doing much either till he improves his serving but if he does he's definitely a guy who can trouble and beat the best. He served quite well against Nadal last year but still only quite well. I can't remember the last time I saw Nishikori not serving quite a few double faults and poor second serves. And no, Nadal wasn't playing his best but we all know that so there's no need to even ask it. We're not talking about these guys beating him playing his best on clay like in the 2010 Monte Carlo final against Verdasco. We're talking now.
