Kei is playing some excellent tennis. Murray is playing well too. What do you see happening?

I'm picking Nishikori in 2 competitive sets.

I think this will go three. I said this on the main Madrid thread, but, while the best of 3 favors Kei, I think Andy is beginning to find his confidence and game. Both will want this win, and I hope they fight for it. Both are clever players, too, and tricky. It could be fun to watch. I hope so. (Oh, and I went for Murray in 3.)

Toss up for me. Flipped a coin. Coin says Nishikori. Flipped again. Coin says in three sets.

My dad always said if you're not sure what you want, flip a coin. If you're disappointed, or pleased, at the outcome, you'll know. Are you really completely dispassionate between Andy and Kei? Did the coin flip tell you anything? Seriously curious. :)

No! I'm torn! They are two of my favorite players and I want both to win. I want Murray to finally win a clay Masters and his 10th as well as his first since '13 Miami. But then I also want Nshikori to finish what he started last year and win his first Masters title as well. Torn in two! So I flipped a coin. If I had to choose without a coin? Murray! No, wait. Nishikori should win! But I'd hate to hear Kim's wrath directed at the Japanese. So Murray. But Nishikori needs this win. Doh!

As a neutral I'd look at this and say Kei is the favourite and would win in 3, but Andy has pleasantly surprised me and looked very comfortable on this surface and I won't bet against my guy so I say Murray in three!

Murray...

Yeah Murray would be the better opponent for Nadal.

Hope Kei wins this.

Actually, if he makes the final I'd prefer Rafa to face Kei, because there's still the psychic blowback from last years anomaly to be processed. I've said that a few times this week. But I think Murray has more to him than Kei at this stage, and he wins today. It'll be a very interesting one though, and like the other semi, I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but I think the future SNP candidate for Dunblane takes it...

Interestingly, as of now no one has voted for Murray in two.

:snicker

Have you seen Kei hitting the ball??

Yeah Kei crushed Ferrer yesterday, a much tougher opponent given the surface.

Sure, but I always worry about Kei's endurance, plus the head-to-head is in Andy's favor.

Also, naturally someone voted for Murray in two since I posted that.

Yes, but since the U.S. open, he has certainly shown those questions probably are only relevant in best of 5. He has had a week off since barcelona. Plus, if it's a tough grind against Andy, it will be his first of the tournament, so he should be pretty well rested. He knocked off Ferrer in under 80 minutes.

Oops, he went to three against Goffin, but made quick work of Ferrer and Agut.

That is a seriously good result on clay. Not even Nadal has managed to do that in recent years. Ferrer will always put up a fight, so the fact that Kei didn't even give him a chance in that respect is telling. Very pleased, hope Kei wins the semi, cause I will only be able to watch the final. And I do hope Kei gets a shot at revindicating last years final.
