Congrats to Halep! :clap :celeb:

JJ will be disappointed after blowing the chance to close it out in the second set.

Boy did we call this one right T. We thought it would be 3 grueling sets for Simona.

Yep, part of me was rooting for JJ, because I've always liked her, but part of me was thinking, "Wait! I voted for Halep in three!"

poor JJ...she fought so hard

Obviously not hard enough! I'm done with JJ! Falling apart like that with just a couple points to close it out just isn't acceptable in this level of tennis! I expect more out of the men; should be the same for the women! She's been around too long to let this happen like this! It would have been a waste of points on JJ anyway; just as well Halep got them being 3rd in the world! :nono :s  :dodgy:

JJ should take this as a positive...her tennis seems to be back on track and build up for the clay season. This match revealed that tennis is more than hitting that yellow ball....confidence is a beautiful thing.

Quite entertaining match they delivered, but the stats says it's an ugly match - well guess they are right 107 double faults and 18 breaks of serve - but fun to watch. Congrats to Simona for her greatest win until now and her 11th title:clap:clap - now leading the road to Singapore.

Left after the 2nd set to do some shopping. Thanks for the commentary KSK and Tented...have to say I'm quite surprised Halep pulled this out given the way she looked for the fist half of the match. But congrats to her anyway...think she's learned how to pull out a match even when she's not playing her best.

Congrats to Simona.

I did not bother to see the match. But, just checked the stats. BOTH players won more points
while receiving than when serving. :cover

I noticed that. There were 30 games played in all and so more games were won by the
returner than the server. But, this is not new as this has happened in many other WTA
matches.

What I am saying is even at the point level, more percentage of points were won by
each players while returning than when serving. The stats are almost identical for both
players. Each won about 47% of their own service points and 53% of return points.
I don't know whether this has happened before, but would not be surprised if it has.
