Not a bad field. Lots of dirt devils.
Like I mentioned, this field is much stronger than the one in Casablanca. Over there is no top 20 player in the field, here there are 4 of them.

If I just look at the top 8 seeds, I would say Verdasco and Isner are the two players who
have the best shot at winning this one.

I did look at the draw and unfortunately, these two are meeting as early as the quarterfinals.
I would say that the winner of that QF wins this tourney.

If he cannot defeat a player hardly inside the top 100 with no credentials on clay, I think is really time to retire.

Absolutely, no use to continue like that

^ He already announced his retirement. The AO 2016 will be his last tournament. No need to push him out of the door sooner than that. Let the guy enjoy his swansong, even if it is littered with these kind of losses.

I am well aware of that and I am not pushing him out. I was not clear perhaps, my statement you should read it this way: "He made a good decision";)

I do not want to jinx the guy, but can Jack Sock to develop into the next USA player to carry their flag?
So far, so good. he defeated Giraldo in straight sets: 6-4, 6-4, into the semifinals.
His results since he came back from surgery are a lot better than they used to be prior to that.
I know technically, his BH is poor, are there any improvements?

Querrey and Sock into the semis! Querrey will need to defeat Verdasco and Sock will have to beat Anderson if they are going to meet in the final.

Make it so!

I hope Verdasco beats Querrey, but we agree about Sock.

Also, the Sock/Anderson match is beginning right now. It's on the Tennis Channel for those in the US.

Sock looks like he is gonna take it. Up a set and a break.
