This is great! Now I no longer have to say that I "H-word" Folks...I can now say, thanks to you, that I "Muzza" Folks. :clap

Anyone have a translation app for that?

I'll save anyone the trouble. The translation is..."I (I. Haychew) hate Nadal". Please don't ban me for saying the politically incorrect "H-word/Muzza".

Disclaimer: I obviously don't know the guy on a personal level. He may be the coolest guy in the world. But, I "Muzza" him as a tennis player.

Between this, and the "ph"-thing, you're losing me. I think you're due for a straight-forward post.

What more to say? Go, Andy!

Ewe axed phour it, sew ewe canknot ban me. Meye strate phourward post iz...
...I HATE NADAL! :D

Well, you said it. A lot feel that way, but don't have the cojones to say it. I find that sad, though. Tennis is a sport, and Nadal is a very great player of it. I know one reason that so many dislike him is that there are two other camps, the Federer ones, and the Djokovic ones, and he's been a threat and a rival to both. So he's vilified by both groups. But he has been a very fine champion, who has accomplished many things. I'm not convinced that one can love tennis, and hate Nadal. By the same token, as much as I don't like Djokovic, I have to admire the level of tennis that he's playing. And also with Federer: I never liked him, but he's a damned fine tennis player. Maybe you can find some place in between.

Is this a case of enemy of enemy is friend? :puzzled

No, I've always said that I'm a fan of Murray. And a supporter of Amelie, so I'm deep in it.

Don't get me wrong...I have the utmost respect for Folks. He's a great champion. I just happen to despise him, primarily, among other reasons, because he "owns" Federer. What can I say.?..I'm shallow and bitter.

And about the only guy who would admit it. Props to you.

I don't hate any player. I don't even know them. I may not like the way they play, their attitude on court, their shrieking, their gamesmanship, etc, but I don't hate any one. Hate is too strong of a word. I guess I'm more of a hate the sin not the sinner type of guy. I hate Nadal's gamesmanship and Sharapova's shrieking, but I guess they are pretty cool people.

The question in my mind is: What, if anything, has Murray learned from his two defeats in finals to Djokovic this year (both of which ended with 6-0 sets, no less)?

Thoughts?

It's the big question, because, obviously, the last two sets in Oz were decided more between Andy's ears than anywhere else. He was up 2-0 in the third, then he suffered a meltdown of catastrophic proportions. He literally handed the initiative to Djokovic, and didn't fight too hard to get it back. So he can take heart from how he got himself into that position in the first place, but then he has to figure out how to keep the demons out when he's there.

Because that was nothing to do with technique or match-up.

On the plus side for Andy, he's been looking actually very calm, and happy, since he got married, and the results on clay show this. He didn't break sweat defeating Rafa, and he faced a growing predicament in the Ferrer match, when he dropped the third, with great ease. He just swept the little beast away without a thought. So he seems to be mentally looking to be in a good place - but i said that in Oz too.

Realistically, if we look at this one based on form this year, form on clay, form at the FO so far, matches between them this year, there isn't a single crumb you can pick at that suggests Andy Murray will win. It's not impossible that he could win, but there's no logical argument to be made that he will...

Don't even LOOK at Djokovic. Even if he falls down on the court like he's just been shot by a sniper. Focus on the next point and let Djokovic do his little woe-is-me routine. That's what he should have learned. ;)

I didn't watch his match against Ferrer, so my question is:
Does he even have a chance? Even the slightest bit?

0.000000000001% ?
The problem in their match up is that Andy's second serve has the speed of an average baseline shot, so it gets brutalised on the slower hards. I imagine it won't be any different on clay. To win this match he will need to be very aggressive , and of course keep it up, and not have a meltdown after winning a tie break.

He had more or less the same stuff in Oz and he put himself in a position to take control - then reneged. It wasn't technical, and had nothing to do with match-up. He bottled it. Now, the question is, can he get into a similar position today? Maybe, but there's no reason to expect he will...

I haven't watched a whole lot of tennis this year, although historically, the Djokovic/Murray match-up hasn't always exactly been exciting to watch.

Does anyone think this match will be different? Murray has seemed to improve on clay and Djokovic is in freakish form. Is it worth staying up, TT?

He laid a bit of a smack down on Ferrer for a lot of the match and should have been straights if he didn't take a mental holiday in set 3.

He has a decent chance and I'm not being biased. If Djokovic plays his very best, Djokovic will win, but if he is just slightly off his best, Murray is playing his strongest clay court tennis right now with the right balance of good offensive and defensive tennis, he could punish him...

I know it sounds off-kilter, but in Murray's favour is the sense that even as well as he's playing, he goes into the match with very little of the expectations on his side of the court. It's not as if he has nothing to lose, but he's expected to lose. And if he can make Djoker even more aware of the burden, and press this home, we might see something interesting happen.

To me, this is his only chance...

DVR it Matt. If it's a classic you'll have it. If it's a dud, you don't have to lose sleep over it.
