Stam brought out the worst in Djokovic last year, it was painful to watch. I'm hoping Novak gets it done in 3 and not lose the plot this time halfway through.

And 2013 AO too, clearly Wawrinka has all the answers at the AO.

Does Stan repeat last year's upset or does Novak go to the final?

This one will be a slug fest, can't wait!

I agree. I think Novak wins, but it won't be easy. The last three times they met at a Slam, it went five, so I'm picking Novak in five.

You would have to put the winner of the Djokovic-Wawrinka match over the winner of the Berdych-Murray match, but they are all playing so well. Anything could happen.

Is it safe to say the winner of this match is the favorite in the final?

I'd favor Murray over Wawrinka if that match-up materializes. Any other combination and yeah, the above post is true.

So bizarre with no Roger or Rafa; not missed! I've been whining "forever" about getting some new blood in these semis!! At least Stan is defending well and Murray's back! Men's tennis is looking good with a great #1 representative in Djokovic! :clap  :dodgy:

Djokovic has only won 1 of the last 7 slam events (and his Wimbledon win was a dicey 5-setter), so it doesn't feel like the #1 ranking is being represented adequately. But perhaps that is good for tennis.

Stan has taken out Murray even at Murray's prime and now Murray seems little weak.
I would take Stan if that match up materializes.

On a hardcourt h2h Murray is 6-3 up on Stan.on Clay i'd give 2 Stan,a fit Murray beats a fit Stan on hardcourt most times. If not for Murray over the years i think Stan would have been higher in the rankings.

But there is a difference between how Wawrinka plays at the AO compared to every other hardcourt in the world.
Just ask Nadal and Djokovic.

I think Murray is playing much better now than he was at the 2013 US Open, even if it seemed that he had more momentum then having just won Wimbledon.

I agree I see no real limit for Murray in this tournament.

One thing is for sure, even if Andy never won this Final @ AO,he does know how to beat both Nole & Stan in Slams.Don't forget he's done this before. As Andy is already in the Final he must have a 50% chance of winning this.Nole & Stan have had some killer matches, you never know we might get another one.

If SW beats Djokovic here (and again), considering how well the Serbian is playing, than it will be time for us all to take him very seriously, not only "he can beat anyone on a given day", as this speech is flexible enough to accomodate just anything.

Just hope is not 21-19 in the fifth...

Anything could happen in this match. Hope for a good'un.

From Murray's perspective, obviously Djokovic in the final will be very difficult but with Wawrinka as the alternative, I don't really feel like an upset here gives Andy that much of a better chance in the final. Stan has caused Andy problems in more than one slam and was the last one to prevent him from getting as far as the quarter finals in New York 2010 (?).

If Stan wins this semi he will be 2 of 3 in slam semis for his entire career :eyepop
