Well, that was an underwhelming final set.

Honestly, who would have thought both GS semifinals would have a 6-0 set? A 6-0 fifth set is just horrible.

True, but it was a competitive fifth set to a degree - several extended games... a bit like a boxer losing every round but still being competitive within the stanza.

Strange roller coaster match. Neither guy seemed to want it that much.

I thought Stan served terribly by his standards, and he just couldn't quite get into a comfortable zone, despite the fact that Novak gave him all sorts of opportunities to do just that.

It wasn't the quality of the previous 2 unfortunately.

Novak and Murray will meet in the mens final for the 3rd time

3 times proves it Murray?:)

When we have all of the big 4 fit & well odd's are one of them will win the Slams.I wonder if we will see another year like 2014?

Personally I like to see a even playing field, welcome back Murray to the big 4.

I do 2,i think when Murray had his Opp we missed this.Looking like things are back as thay should be.

Stn will lose a boatload of points...

Doesn't matter. He's shown that he's a genuine top player. I expect him to push again in the coming months. Apart from grass he's surely an established top 5 player now

I like Stan. I hope he gets it together and has a great year.

Stan is a top player. He may be ranked 9, but in the race to London he will be ranked 3 for now.

I missed this bit. As he was leaving the court, did the announcer say, "Let's hear it for the one-slam wonder, Stan Wawrinka!"

The main problem with this match is despite the occasional great rallies, the key moments have been decided by sloppy, and at times awful play by both.

Well said.

Watching the match on the DVR made me very glad I went back to bed. Novak was nervous in the first set and it didn't seem to go away. He could have easily won that in three if he could have settled himself down and just played his game.

Stanimal definitely was not playing his best tennis either. Novak should be thanking him for gifting so many points. Because if Stan had gotten things together instead of Novak, he too would have been through it in three.

Some very good shotmaking in the midst of ugliness. Congrats Novak.

Who said he's packin' extra pounds? I think it's an illusion like with Ferrer! He's in fine shape I'm sure! I never looked like an Olympic swimmer either; just not as defined as the other top players! :puzzled  :cover

At one time! lol! Speaking to looking heavier because of the clothing and more than likely "barrel chest!" Stan isn't fat!

Stan is most definitely not fat. He used to stay in a house on my street when I lived in Wimbledon. He is one powerful looking unit. Just a naturally big guy

Every time I see Wawrinka play, I always think how "untennis" he looks. He looks like he should be playing rugby or something.

Novak wasn't his usual self, and didn't even seem to have any fight or intensity in him (it was really strange to see borderline lack of effort). Not sure what was going on. With Stan it was a case of playing badly, but even he seemed to have little fight. He was lucky it went to five serving as poorly as he did anyway, but oddly enough, it still seemed like he was the one capable of at least raising his levels in moments.

One of few matches between top 4 players I can remember going 5 sets because both guys are playing equally below par.

It's just my own opinion. I guess he packed some extra pounds during winter but maybe it's an illusion as you said ??
