I'm hearing reports that Wawrinka's elbow is bothering him and he isn't able to serve all out like he would like. Is this true? If that's the case, Nishikori definitely has the advantage. The only thing that worries me about Nishikori is the pressure. There is a LOT of expectations coming from the Japanese media right now. I just he doesn't wilt under it like he did in the U.S. Open.

Considering how many multiple-hour marathon matches he played leading up to the final, I don't think the pressure was the only factor, but I'm sure it played its part.

This isn't a match that would entice me to getting out of bed to watch, but I'll rubberstamp Herios post and back Stan...

Really? I am very much looking forward to this one, if these ladies could hurry up. Bedtime is approaching!

I'm going with Stan in four, although if what Kirijax has said is correct about the elbow, he won't have a chance. I'll admit I haven't seen him play yet (Federer loss sent me into a small depression), but I liked what I saw from Stan here for the past two years. I think if he plays at or near the level he played when he played Djokovic last year, he'll take this in four.

A

auto-pilot

Wawrinka has proven he can beat Djokovic on this AO court, so to ensure an epic semi-final its best that Wawrinka wins.
Or maybe Nishikori can do exactly what he did at the US Open, so maybe Nishikori is best for the semi-final.....just depends how different you see the AO compared to the USO.

Stan takes the first set. He is punishing Kei's FH. who is making quite a few UE from that side. He also serves well so far, having Kei on the back foot in most of the rallies.

Huge spectacular rally won by Stan, leads to 2 BP, he converts the second one with another monster BH.

Wow. Boy was I wrong. Kei is being completely outclassed here. Wawrinka playing very well. Nishikori looks more than a bit off. But a good bit of it has to be from the great play from Wawrinka. We'll see if he can break in order to have a chance in this set.
