Genie in 3 partially assisted by some self destruction from Kvitova.

I find it kind of ridiculous but people over at tennis.com are writing on the racket reaction to Bouchard/Halep that Bouchard made the final a la Bartoli. It's ridiculous to compare her journey here to Bartoli's. If she wins she will have beaten 3 top 10 players and a former wimbledon champion. Bartoli didn't face 1.

A whole lot of clueless posters there. Many are also calling Nick Kyrgios a one tournament wonder just out of being p1$$ed that he beat Nadal. This guy's the real deal when you consider he's only 19 and will likely get better and better. And yeah, the Bartoli comparison is beyond ridiculous. Bouchard has made the semis of the past 2 slams and the finals here. That clearly shows how stupid those posters are.

I hope this is why you people post here. Bouchard is the real deal and so is Kyrgios. And for that matter, so is Bartoli…she did win the title. Holding your own in a Major is a big deal. Don't let anyone treat these players like one-offs, sez I.

I don't even bother most of the time, I read the article only. The majority of replies are pretty obnoxious.

As for who will face more pressure, it has to be Petra, she will the favorite and thinks she has to repeat. genie does not have such dilemmas.
I like to make a quote Genie made after her semi match:

"I'm really excited. I have a day off tomorrow and I can't wait to play," she added. "It's my first Grand Slam final so I'm just going to go for it. I'll probably have my toughest match yet and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

You go girl, you go!

^ Of course Petra is the favourite, she has won Wimbledon before, she will be aware that the pressure is on her.Remember Petra does have a slight advantage, she has played in a GS final before, she understands what is needed to win.

Playing in a Grand Slam final,is a huge step up,from playing in a s/final.I expect both players to feel nerves, playing on one of the world's biggest stages....the centre court at Wimbledon.

no more TBA on court 18 for Simona... I will miss those TBAs and playing fifth match in the rain to put her in her place... ;)

Regardless of court 18,the rain,etc....you still have to be proud of Simona.I know I am,she exceeded my expectations at Wimbledon this year.Simona needs some TLC now, recover and recharge her batteries for the HC season.I have to go now....someone is knocking at my front door.

I had Genie in two sets against Simona, one leg or two it did not really matter. She was the better player. I have seen Petra play up close and when she gets into a rhythm she can be very effective. She has been there before, experience counts to a certain degree, but Eugenie has the mental toughness, she will not put any pressure on herself even if( 5,000,000 Canadians maybe watching), Petra will, and she can get unnerved. You are right fashionista, Petra is very powerful and Genie needs to find that touch of magic to move her around, because she is not fleet of foot. We can analysis this to doomsday, but The Montreal Miss has to be my pick, in 3.

I think that's key, and based on what I've seen, Genie has the tools to make it happen. She's a shot-maker, not just a one-dimensional power player. If she can move Petra around, and frustrate her, she'll win. At least I hope so. I also voted Bouchard in three.

I'm finding you a little redundant Si Si. I really like Simona but you're basically sounding like Maria's fans now. Stop talking about intangibles you don't factually know about and get back to talking about people's actual tennis.

Interesting fact,

This is the first Grand Slam Final between players born in the 1990s.
Only five times have players born in the 1990s reached Grand Slam finals

Wozniacki USO 2009
Kvitova Wimbledon 2011
Halep French Open 2014 and now Kvitova and Bouchard at Wimbledon 2014.Obviously this is the first all - 1990s- babies Grand Slam Final.

If you are into lucky numbers.....another interesting fact,

The No 6 seed has won Grand Slams six times in the Open Era,
No 6 could be lucky,

Virgina Wade USO 1968
Steffi Graf French Open 1999
Mary Pierce French Open 2000
Anastasia Myskina French Open 2004
Li Na French Open 2011
Serena Williams Wimbledon 2012
( Kvitova is no 6th seed at Wimbledon)

The only time No 13 seed to win a Grand Slam in the Open Era was Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004.And as legend has it,Bouchard was inspired by that victory."When she won Wimbledon I was watching her on TV,and thought,"Wow,what she's doing is cool.I want to do the same".

( Bouchard is no 13th seed at Wimbledon)

Fashionista you came up with some intriguing numbers. Eugenie is 13th, yet if she wins Wimbledon she does vault to number 6! She has lucky 13 and then the number 6 which has won 6 Grand Slams as you noted. 6 + 13 = 19, which Eugenie was for most of the year , now 20, it all rings true in my Canadian crystal ball. Forget about everything else we have dissected, these numbers don't lie!!:laydownlaughing

I was thinking the same thing, if Genie wins it, she will be #6

Kvitova will go from No 6 to No 4,win or lose in the final. It will be the former No 2's highest ranking since the 2012 Wimbledon fortnight, when she was ranked No 4.

In this unexpected final, I will cheer for Bouchard. She has a very strong serve and showed some good results throughout Wimbledon. She deserves it :)
