Petra leads the series 1-0. The only meeting came last year in Toronto 2R.

2011 Ladies Champion versus 2012 Junior Champion.
I am going with junior in straights.
My heart won't let me vote otherwise.

Fingers crossed Bouchard has the will and composure to win. Her mindless ball basher opponent already has one slam too many although she played another mindless ball basher in that 2011 final and I'm glad she won it so I'll cut her some slack that time at least. But not this year :p

Kvitova should win this if she holds her nerves but she wont. So, I picked Genie in 3 sets.
Genie played bad today, If Petra keeps cool she wins but she will not keep cool. Genie is steady.

Genie is extremely composed for what she has achieved so far. Her return of serve is really good an she is moving well. When she controls the middle of the court, she can hurt Petra.

Genie in 3, hopefully.

Petra serve is not the sitting duck Simona serve of today. Genie return will not be "really good" on Saturday. She will deal with a big serve, not a sitting duck serve.
Her rival will play in an opposite style to Angie and Simona's style. Angie and Simona didnt have a big serve, Petra has that.

Damn... I am still hurting  If the whole event wasnt that pompous then I could have lived with this lose. Simona played on one leg, no big deal. I have to clear the pompousness of my mind :D

Bouchard returns every serve inside the baseline, regardless of who is doing the serving. She is good at cutting angles. Petra's serve will probably be tougher to deal with though, I agree.

Bouchard can return whatever she pleases... Petra serve will be a different story. Angie and Simona her last rivals didnt have the petra serve.

Some interesting stats:
Genie has not lost a set in this event, Petra lost one set in the battle with Venus.
Petra has 38 Aces, she is the leader.
Genie is leading the field in first serve return points.

I think Kvitova will win this pretty comfortably. Really don't like this match up on this surface for Bouchard.

Bouchard likes to stand on the baseline, but I think that will be her downfall vs Kvitova who hits the ball with such weight and power that it's likely to force Bouchard into lots of errors. I just can't see Bouchard's technique standing up to the pressure Kvitova will put her under.

^ Another factor rain is predicated for the final,if the roof is closed,Kvitova's chances improve as she has a great indoor record.

I like Genie's aggressiveness by standing her ground inside the baseline, but I hope she can make some adjustments if she has to in the final, to let herself see Kvitova's serve. I'd love to see Bouchard win this. She's pretty sturdy, mentally, even though this will be a big moment. I hope it goes 3, either way.

Im not sure why but something inside me predicts Petra for the win. She seems mentally a lot more stable at this Wimbledon than she has been in a long time and she's dangerous when stable both physically and mentally.

I also think even for the most steely players the occasion of your first grand slam final can be daunting. I think it's to her benefit that she's played a junior final here before but still...

I really hope Bouchard wins. I think we are in dire need for some consistency in youth at the top of the women's game. I love that she seems hungry. Every slam is her opportunity. She expects to win. That's so important. I see the same quality in Halep and it's so refreshing.

I pick Petra in two sets if she keeps her head or in three sets if she loses focus. She has a deadly serve and her power rivals Serena's. Bouchard has to be admired for her mental toughness, but I can't see that helping her win the final.

Although the serve advantage goes to Petra, I don't think that's the key.
Here are the first serve percentages for Petra for this entire event.
First match 53% - second match 67% - third match 71% - fourth match 52% - fifth match 66% - sixth match 62%

That third match versus Venus, Petra got 71% first serves in, that was her best match, but total, she only averages 61%
Genie does hold the advantage of being a better mover, she also changes direction of the ball better. Genie also holds the advantage of being the best returner, she won the most points on her first serve return.
I just don't see Petra's first serve as being the decider of this match.

I find it kind of ridiculous but people over at tennis.com are writing on the racket reaction to Bouchard/Halep that Bouchard made the final a la Bartoli. It's ridiculous to compare her journey here to Bartoli's. If she wins she will have beaten 3 top 10 players and a former wimbledon champion. Bartoli didn't face 1.

Kvitova has been playing the kind of tennis this fortnight that saw her win the title three years ago,she has been managing her emotion's,with the help of her new mental coach Michael Safar.Kvitova will need to pounce on any opportunity to more forward for fear of losing the positional battle with Bouchard.Kvitova is very capable of overwhelming Bouchard with raw power from the baseline and if she can serve well and keep from giving Bouchard too many chances to attack on the return and move forward as she likes to do,I feel Kvitova we will her 2nd Wimbledon title.

Fashion, thanks for the info on Petra's new mental coach. That was her Achilles heel. I thought I saw a new calm I did not see before. If he has instilled some mental stability in her game, the sky is the limit for this talented player.

I had Genie in two sets against Simona, one leg or two it did not really matter. She was the better player. I have seen Petra play up close and when she gets into a rhythm she can be very effective. She has been there before, experience counts to a certain degree, but Eugenie has the mental toughness, she will not put any pressure on herself even if( 5,000,000 Canadians maybe watching), Petra will, and she can get unnerved. You are right fashionista, Petra is very powerful and Genie needs to find that touch of magic to move her around, because she is not fleet of foot. We can analysis this to doomsday, but The Montreal Miss has to be my pick, in 3.
