Hey, look at me, I'm Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and I haven't taken a top 10 win all year, but I'm just going to turn up and make Novak Djokovic look like a clown, and then I'm going to tell Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov where to go too.

I think Djokovic made himself look like a clown to be honest as well as Tsonga played. Still very glad to see him back playing well though.

^^ I don't remember the last time he played that poorly. He certainly didn't seem to give it much effort. Trusting we'll see much better tennis from Novak this week.

Yeah he looked bizarrely completely disinterested and the smile at the end had whatever about it.

GSM called for him to lose early. He could have shown a little more fight, but seemed content to let Jo run the rest of the gauntlet that was their draw. :snigger

Tsonga serve will be a huge factor. I remember the Wimby match where Roger could not get a sniff for 3 straight sets. And Tsonga is on a roll with a lot of confidence . This will not be easy for Roger.

I hope he wins in straights but he might lose in 3.

Agreed, Front, that wasn't the "real" Djokovic and it wasn't the "top four" spec Murray either when it came to the big points, but those are still two very good wins for Jo on back to back days, not to mention brushing Mr Grigor aside the day after. Very good week from JWT. And I don't think anyone is complaining - Jo plays great, entertaining tennis when he's in the mood and he's a very lovable personality too.

Yeah, neither played near potential but Djokovic was obviously far worse as the scoreline would indicate. Murray was only a single break ahead in set 3 so it's not as bad as you think. 3-0 only looks good on paper. That said, I thought it was well and truly game over once I saw that lead in set 3 and predicted a 6-2 or 6-3 set to Murray.

The problem with that loss was that Murray had won 5 games in a row and had all the momentum which is an even bigger advantage against a streaky player like Tsonga, and, that aside, he got broken twice in a row by him when Jo isn't exactly known for his return game.

I'd like to see Tsonga win and have a Masters 1000 title next to his name.

Tsonga is definitely rejuvenated and enjoying himself, but a final is not a place he ever felt at home in...

That is true, but it's not like Tsonga never beat Federer before. I still give a slight edge to Federer just because of his experience, but Tsonga has played much better throughout the tournament and beat better players to reach the final. If he can keep his form, it could be a tough final. Let's hope it is entertaining as well.:D

He won the 2008 Paris Masters, defeating defending champion David Nalbandian.

Both Roger and Rafa were out in the QF due to injuries.

Yep. A lot of people (me included) expected JWT to really kick on after 2008 but it never happened.

^^ Maybe Tsonga is due for late career resurgence, sort of like Wawrinka. We never know.

Caveat that i root for underdogs, but for some reason, I like Jo for this one. Seriously, I think he is determined and will be insanely confident. He also hasn't had to work that hard, especially when you considier who he has faced!

Also, there is nowhere else I would rather be on this groggy sunday (one of those sunglasses inside days ;)) than watching this final with all you (if any of you are here)

Tsonga is serving well. This could really be a great offensive match.

He has the game. So far, he looks very sharp. Murray and Novak have given more trouble of late than Fed, so he shouldn't be overly intimidated. He has looked not to be denied, but there is a reason he was regularly mentioned in Kieran's "Who hurts you most" thread.

Good point on that thread. He got my vote.

What a shot from Jo!
