A couple of notes of interest... Rafa has won all but one final in Rome in 8 finals. In the 6 of 7 Rome finals in which Nadal has won and won the first set, he has won in 2 sets, except his first final with Guillermo Coria in 2005, where he won the first set 6-4, then prevailed in a mighty struggle, finally winning 7-6 (8-6) in the 5th set decider. The only time he lost the first set in finals he won, was the 2006 edition, where he was again taken to 5 sets, this time by Roger Federer, again prevailing 7-6 (7-5).
So will Novak Djokovic again be the only man to beat Nadal in a Rome final, or will Rafa continue his streak?
I have no idea, except that it sadly won't be a 5 set affair... Bring back the best of 5 set final (but give a day off before it)!
