Way to go, Eugenie. She is showing Masha she has a bit of fight in her too. This next service game (if she wins it) will put quite a bit of pressure on Maria to hold again after just being broken. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

^ Yeah I think Serena has come back the most from MP down in majors to being the eventual champion.

Yes, Wimbledon '09 she was MP down in the semi against Dementieva.

And in 03 AO she was down 5-1 in the SF to Kim and saved 2 MP's. The other was 05 AO SF where she was down 3 MP's to Maria. That match was the turning point in the rivalry. Maria had chances to win that match and hasn't won one since.

^ I was just coming on to say how tough she is. So impressive against such a great competitor as Maria.

That is the great thing about Genie is I call her the Silent Fighter! She kind of sneaks up on you in that she fights but in a more calm, collected way which has to be unnerving for opponents.

However, she can not drop the ball this set or I fear we will have a third set collapse by Genie if it goes to a third.

Maria is finding out Eugenie is as tough a cookie as she is. Relentless with those low counter punches. She can change direction on a whim.

Come on Genie, get it to a breaker! If it goes to a breaker, I imagine Sharapova would be the more nervous as Genie has the first set.

Crowd is going for Bouchard? Good.

Actually, come to think of it, this might bring up the best in pova. So maybe not so good.

I hope Bouchard has enough fight left in her!

Bouchard would do well to do everything in her power to break early to make an early impression on Maria.

Thanks for the stats and added history, K.

We could be looking at a 6-1 third set blow-out -- something we've seen Maria do countless times.

Some rookie errors from Genie. At least twice she's blown a 40-0 lead on her serve. I'm gonna call this over and get some work done.
