I'm really happy to see the confident Genie back. It's really important to have the kind of up and coming young gun that really believes she can win any match. True champions expect to win, every day.

I sensed Eugenie was going to take care of Caroline. Looked in complete control against Alize. Will have to grab the highlights of the semi later today. Work at the paper has been extreme. Yes Si Si Wimbledon re-visited. and yes I can confirm your statement about Eugenie.

Well done to Eugenie,as I said yesterday when she played Cornet it was the best tennis I have seen her play since Wimbledon, she brought the same form in the match against Caroline.Good luck in the final.

Caroline still a good result for you making the s/final of a Premier tournament, though you looked tired to me.Good luck in Beijing.

Really happy for Petra. I always have s oft spot for her. I think her disposition is so sweet and earnest.

Yet I won't say Petra really is really changed until Australian Open. This reminds me of the year she won Wimbledon. Didn't she finish that year out with a YEC win?

Correct.Petra won the YEC defeating Azarenka. In regards to the AO,I feel the conditions have a effect on Petra,a reason why she hasen't performed well in the past.In saying that I have been pleased the way Petra has performed in the hot and humid conditions at Wuhan. The s/final match between her and Elina was played in very hot and humid conditions and the WTA Heat Rule was enforced.

Yea that's what i'm surprised for. Hopefully her improved fitness is the reason and she would not have these issues anymore.

^ Another factor is that her asthma plays up in hot and humid conditions.

That's true. I've always felt it's something she could overcome. Novak and Vika both had a ton of trouble with heat and humidity too and now they love Australia. I think Petra's problem in the past is more mental than physical.

What I meant about the Australian Open was that that year Petra finished with Wimbledon and the YEC going into the Australian Open I believe she could have taken number 1. Then suddenly there was a big drop in her level of play. Im hoping that doesn't happen again as I really do love her.

Yes with Petra we do have factor in the 'mental side of her game'.
Correct Petra did have a chance to take the number 1 position at the AO in 2012.Petra's level of play dropped.I have always liked Petra, when her game is 'on' she is a delight to watch.Petra is a very shy person, but a sweetie.

A interesting Tweet from Ben Rothenberg who is in China covering this event.

"Woznicacki is playing so much better now than she was when she was No1,which speaks volumes to how much stronger the WTA is right now".

I have been in one press conference with Petra and found her thoughtful and reserved. Those are good attributes. Looking forward to the Wuhan Final, whether I watch it live depends on my capacity to stay awake! What time is it on by the way??

One month they're claiming the WTA is weak and in disarray the next it's the strongest in years... I am so tired of those narratives.

We have a rematch of the Wimbledon final....Kvitova v Bouchard

Genie will find a different opponent in Petra.Caroline gives her opponents a lot more time to set up their shots than Petra.Genie has a reasonable first serve, still in my mind it is still a area when she can improve upon.Genie will need to have a different court positioning when receiving Petra's serve, something I observed in their final at Wimbledon.

Petra has been serving well all week,to me she has to much power off the ground than Genie.I don't think this will be the rout like it was in the Wimbledon final.Petra's record in final's is 13 of 17 finals on the tour including both Grand Slam Final's she has competed in.

Petra to win in 2 tight sets

Petra is the smart money, but I'd like to see the stubbornness of Bouchard.

Helpful for sure, fashionista but I am in PST zone and it is on at midnight, just in case anyone else is in my time zone. Tennis Canada helped me there. Petra is far more powerful than Caroline, so if Eugenie learned anything from Wimbledon, she needs to be in overdrive to withstand Petra's power. Eugenie will be more relaxed, so I am grudgingly giving her one set, just for patriotic sake!
