Good heavens…it's starting to sound like a battle of attrition AND a war against the elements.

I like with quote from Ward:

"The toughest tie to play in probably was against Lithuania, in my first Davis Cup away," Ward said. "That was ugly. The crowd were screaming and shouting in between your first and second serves. But it's something you kind of enjoy. Everyone is annoying you so much that you want to prove a point. I'm sure it will be even worse here. I'm well up for it. It will be a football-type atmosphere. I wish tennis was more like it every week."

I mainly have not been a fan of the Davis Cup. I was early on in Andy Roddick's career when he played so well in the Davis Cup. In fact I always thought he played better and harder in the Davis Cup than he did in "his career"!

^ Yeah, he even played well on clay in Davis Cup. Though he lost this match to Tursunov he played great. Tursunov ended up winning 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6, 17-15. Great match.

Stan seems to have woken up. Won the third set.

It may be the case of Swiss players looking beyond instead of focussing on getting
the job done. I am not seeing the action. Just watching scorecard tick.

Stan's serving at 5-6 in the 4th now to stay in it. Maybe he underestimated Golubev who gave Nadal hell in the US Open 2011 in his first match.

That's a very good result and not too unexpected. He's very up and down but can be very good like he was against Nadal earlier this year.

Hope Fed is awake right from the beginning.

It is this kind of victories by Goulbe that makes DC interesting.

Contrary to various accusations that DC has bad format etc, DC always
brings interesting match ups and story lines.

Not only that Stan lost to Gouleb, Gouleb is #2 player of Kazaks (as the #1
swiss player gets to play #2 Kazak in the opening match). So, in theory
Stan's second match should be tougher than his first match that he lost.

Besides, in the last DC Stan has lost Michael Kushkin (sorry for misspelling your name,
Mike).

So, all swiss folks, you better wake up right now before it is too late.

Don't squander a beautiful chance to get the cup.

On other news, Czechs have won two matches and are in control

Amazing tie break from Golubev. Just wasted the first MP, but still has plenty more...and closes it out.

Question: Can you have a 2 member DC team that plays every match? 4 singles and the doubles?

I think Berdych and Stepanek have done that for Czech Republic.
