We will see if she makes it past Sveta then I can't see anyone taking this title from Serena that is left in the draw. She has looked the best of all the top players this tournament. I hope she comes out with a positive mindset tomorrow and brings her A Game!

She'll have to bring it to Lenglen. The schedule has been released. Serena/Sveta at 2pm on Lenglen followed by a men's match. Aga/Sara on Chatrier at 2pm followed by a men's match.

Wow, I am shocked they didn't put the Serena/Sveta court on the main stage that one has the potential to go the distance, but I suppose they need to sell tickets for the other courts. Though the Aga/Sara match will probably go the distance too.

I can't even begin to imagine the pressure Serena must be under. To know that:
1. You are #1 and everyone is chasing you
2. You are expected to win, always
3 You have several streaks going
4. The press and critics will have a field day if you lose
5. Last American in the singles draw in a tournament no American has won in a while

I don't think Serena is feeling pressure, but she is playing someone who beat her at this very juncture before in this tournament. I think once Serena gets past this point it will only get better for her. She just has to focus on each point and keep protecting her serve. As long as she is holding serve, it will always be more pressure filled for her opponents as her ROS is lethal. I just hope if it gets tight that she doesn't press on ROS like she did last year.

Put your conspiracy hat away. Neither Aga or Sara have been on Chatrier yet. That's the only reason why Serena's match is on Lenglen.

I am a lover not a fighter:p:snigger...at the end of the day Serena will win the match. Its obvious that u didnt take psychology classes because the move to put Serena at an venue where she had a loss to the same player is all strategic...but this yr it will not work beause Serena is riding on a confidence wave.

So then what does it matter if she plays on Lenglen?

colleen, If I may.. You bring up some valid points about what pressure Serena is under but here is how I see it.

Serena, is from Compton, Calif.. just escaping that place and becoming one of the greatest tennis player ever has made her tougher than any athlete I have ever seen. How many times have we seen her just go thru the motions in a match, doesn't matter if its a player ranked in the 40s or a top 5 player. All of a sudden, Serena wakes up and decides, Not this day, not this match, not this title. Serena is the greatest competitor we have ever witness(maybe as clutch as MJ or Tiger). I think that she truly thrives on pressure and unlike MJ and Tiger, Serena can only really beat herself. Pam S once says that Serena biggest problem is not the opponent across the net but she sometimes have a hard time getting out of her own way. Serena is focused and has a memory like an elephant, she will close the deal on Saturday. Ask Sharapova who she got her money on:blush:

I wouldn't be too cocky; there is a reason Serena hasn't been past the quarters in 11 years and that would be her having a mental block of some sorts.

It's been different reasons, though, and not all attributable to "mental block." Sometimes too many distractions, sometimes bad luck, but when she puts her mind to it, Serena, more than any player, WTA or ATP, is the strongest, even after a long lay-off. I don't think it's cocky to say that Serena is rather hugely favored here. I do rather agree she'd have to beat herself.

I think Sveta at her best and Serena a notch below her best is a competitive match.

That being said we all know Serena is at her tip top 100% best form. I do think Sveta is building towards where her confidence was a few years ago...but I don't think she's there yet.

I think Sveta's chances here are overstated. Serena is hungry. Sveta has already surpassed expectations by making it to the QFs again without being seeded.

Serena in straights.

No one voting for a Serena loss? This is the time. There is no one else left in the draw that can do it.

Oh I don't think anyone would suggest Serena isn't favored or shouldn't win. However, Serena hasn't been past the quarters in 11 years for me a player of her caliber that is unacceptable for whatever the reason may be. Obviously, there is some hump there that needs to be crossed and it needs to happen tomorrow and Serena is quite aware of it too as she alluded to it in one of her pressers.

in the words of the late great Vince Lombardi, "What the Hell is going on out there" Serena was crushing Sveta and now she has come out flat in the 2nd set..

Let's go Rena.. use your lower core strength area(the trunk) to power thru this good player

I stated when the draw came out, Sveta was the one name that stood out to me, and made me a little nervous. My nervousness proved valid, close.

This was a great match - thrilling until some times half the third set. A great come back from Serena and an impressive good fight from Svetta who couldn't keep it up until the end. Maybe we'll see more of Svetta? At Wimbledon for example?

Good win for Sara Errani. She has proven that she's a worthy top 10 player. Reaching the final in last year's French Open was not a fluke. Well done Sara and I hope you can give Serena a great fight as well. 61, 60 matches from the hand of Serena are getting boring. Win at least one set. Good luck!! You gonna need it!

Serena will not drop a set...
Why not?

Lana has a FO championship under her belt, so does Serena, I say Serena will lose a set, you say she won't...
Wanna make a bet?

:D

If I recall correctly, weren't you certain Vika was going to defeat Serena in straight sets in Rome?

I for one hope you continue to make predictions against Serena. I like your track record.

It turned out my prediction came true.
What say you now?
