Lo and behold everyone! Sharapova will destroy Serena in the Roland Garros final. Don't say that I did not inform you people earlier ;)

If that happens I promise to never watch tennis ever again. Seriously. 'Cos it won't happen. No chance she'll even win but destroy lol? Even if she managed a win miraculously it would be scraped like the barrel of a drum and no chance she ever destroys Serena for the rest of their careers. Serena just does absolutely everything better than her and for Serena to lose she'd have to play a complete and utter dud of a match. She always goes out of her way to mangle and embarrass Sharapova and this will be no different. Remember the Olympic match? We had an excuse from Sharapova that she felt sick afterwards. I'd feel sick too if I was beaten that badly.

Maria will try to tee-off on Serena's second serve, unless she spins them out wide.

Pova tees off on everything not just second serve. Maria only knows one speed, hard or even harder

Yup. Completely one dimensional one-trick pony.

Serena in 2 is the only option or is my poll broken here?

Pretty effective trick though ;)

Against inferior players yeah sure I agree but Serena is leagues above the other top players when she plays her best. Been said before that the difference between Serena and the other top women is far greater than the difference between the men's top 5.

Should be Serena in two straight forward sets. Pova is pova... she's done well, but it shouldn't be enough to stop the Queen.

I am not going to get cocky Maria is due a win sooner or later, and I certainly don't want it to be here. I will take it a match at a time like Serena. Even Serena measures her words carefully in regard to Maria. I think even she is aware that a loss will come at the hands of Maria at some point. I mean there are two things at play here Serena's nerves and Maria's nerves. It will be she who manages hers better. Maria has the prospect of defending and beating Serena over her head, and Serena winning another major that has eluded her for a long time. I can see Serena over hitting in her anxiety and excitement at being so close and Maria doing the same at defending against her nemesis.

Yes, but the trick is obviously very good. however I think it would be better for tennis if JJ won the semi against Sharapova, but then JJ lacks some other "dimensions".

Serena will be fine..she knows the stakes are higher:nonothe pressure will be on pova trying to defend her title against a player that has beaten her for ten years.
I think Serena wants this really bad and has trained hard for this chance....she will hold that trophy come Saturday.I am never wrong with my predictions about Rena..

Well Serena's first serve percentage was no better than Maria's for most of the match. However, no one cares because Serena wasn't playing a player that would have threatened her because of it. She got away with it because Errani couldn't even do anything with Serena's second serve. Serena will definitely need a high first serve percentage.

Yeah, but that trick has gotten her lots of treats such as 4 majors and 29 titles.

Serena in two sets in what must be the most boring match-up in women's tennis.

I really hope Vika continues to try and improve on clay. I can't stand seeing Sharapova in the final. At least Vika has the fighting spirit to believe she can beat Serena (even if it's a RARE occasion)

The chances of Sharapova are so slim it isn't even worth writing about. Serena would have to get hurt.

This isn't about Serena playing her best tennis. Serena could bring her B or even C game and still wipe Maria off the court. This match up is largely about Maria's complete lack of confidence against Serena. Granted, it isn't the greatest match-up for Maria skill wise. I just don't think Maria believes in the back of her mind that she can beat Serena without it being a fluke. I really dislike Maria as a player, but one thing I will give her is her ability to "start over" with each set. How many times has Maria bombed a first or second set and it's almost as if the next set she is starting a completely new match? It's a wonderful mental ability that I think she can put a block in her mind between the way she played in previous sets. Many players, once they are down, let the other player continue in a momentum that often carries them through to the end. Maria doesn't seem to have that problem against anyone... EXCEPT SERENA.

Maria won her first set off Serena in 5 years at the Miami final this year. They met for the first time on red clay in the final of Madrid last month. Serena took the match in straight sets.

Maria is the defending champ while Serena is the current #1.

Who will reign supreme on Saturday?

Serena has waited for this moment for over ten years (to give her one french open trophy a brother/sister). She won't let it get away from her. As usual, she is happy that her opponent is Maria. She knows she's deep in Maria's head and loves living there.

Maria will feel really pressured. Even though she has never defended one of her Slam titles and is not expected to do so against Serena. But being beaten by Serena and having to hand her the title is going to hurt deeply.

She will only need a high serve percentage if Maria is serving off the hook. And we all know Maria can struggle with her serve. I expect a lot of double faults.
