It is not about losing a year, it is about winning FO. Maybe Nadal knew of his chances of USO and AO and preserved himself for this FO, or maybe he did not knew. Not too many players can miss and be back for business end and deliver by winning. I am too happy for him and can narrate this run till the end of eternity, and why notKieran said:Nadal isn't catching Federer. Anybody here remember 2009? Roger certainly does. Anyone remember that Ralph missed seven months of the last year? He's missed a whole year in total since 2005. You can't skip so much and set records like that. Others gain and you lose ground. Everyone knows Nadal, he's limited in his expectations, and may even have a shorter career than any others of the Top 3 (+1).
It is also not about catching Federer. And in the event of him catching Federer, how does that even diminish what Fed accomplished? Any tennis lover can easily enjoy the game of Fed and Nadal too. Can we ever forget the Nole's moment in the semi It is a spectacular moment and lets enjoy it :clap
Yup, it was expected. I showed up for the awards ceremonyAnd wasn't the final as anti-climactic as expected? Every little suspense was exactly that - a little one, a small nick, a tiny draw of blood to delay the inevitable. The great match was the semi and kudos to No1e for making it so. I didn't think he'd make it to five and he was huge. It was a truly great match, if we measure these things by the way a match escalates towards an unguessable conclusion. At times in the fifth, the semi reminded me of W2008, just in that regard: you never knew who would blink first...
And Kieran, though you have been quoted here, it is not a reply to you. It is just a jolly rant:shy:
