I saw it too. It was a bit much for a retirement, but it was his first ATP win. I will say, the kid is very well built at 17, so that's a good sign for him.
Very sturdy build for a 17 year old, who has still growing to do.
Thinking more about it, maybe he is a Catholic, as Easter is fast approaching, when he drew a cross on the court and lied in it. ( Jesus did die on the cross )

17-year old Diego Dedura-Palomero took the first set off Shapovalov in Munich. He's a young guy I mentioned a bit ago...don't know much about him, but someone to keep an eye on. Its his first ATP tour level match.
Just what we needed. Another grunting left handed muppet. Fiero will be delighted. That celebration of the win by retirement was an OTT embarrassment.

Wow, some grudges last a long time! :lulz1:

Here's an example of how quirky rankings are, especially outside of the top 100. With his R32 win, plus qualifying (despite being a LL), Dedura-Palomero went up +173 ranks in the live ranking by adding 66 ATP points, to #376. If he wins the R16, he'll go up another 80ish ranks to get into the top 300.

Meaning, the differences get smaller and smaller, the lower ranked you are.
We tend to spend a lot of time looking at the point-spread between top players, which is in the hundreds and thousands of points. But scroll down, and you see how little it takes to move up or down. The points awarded in futures and challengers are few.

Great game between Baez and Rune. Rune found the lines and the guts in the second set and wins in 3. Bars play a great clay game though.

Baez is terrific on clay, and he's in good form after the So. American swing. I thought Rune was going to have a tough day at the office after that first set, but he got the break right away in the 2nd.

Foki over Kacha, too bad I like them both

Ruu over Run, Ruu will slowly recover his clay court form

Alcaraz vs de Minaur will be a helluva match, no clue who wins. If de Minaur wins his clay credentials are cemented

Fils over Tsitsipas to induce a new change of racquets

You know I have a 'soft spot' for Foki, so I am very happy he has made the QFs and I think he will win
Ruud does have a H2H lead over Rune, agree his needs to win this match, also he is the defending champ
I will also share your thoughts of de Minaur wins the match against Alcaraz, his clay credentials will be cemented
This is Fils v Tsitispas first match on clay, though the Frenchman does lead their H2H 2-0? Fils won by previous matches on hard courts, I am hoping for a 3-0 H2H for Fils over Tsitsipas:)

Zverev needs to keep winning, though I also could not care less :)
I will go with Bergs
Cerundolo seems to have found his clay legs better in Munich
I refuse to watch Shelton's matches on clay, so I hope Darderi upsets the No 2 seed

Foki was pretty frustrating for a fan today, esp. with the number of chances squandered in the 2nd set, including serving for it. I don't care much for KK's game, but he did hit some fine shots today. But still...Foki had the crowd support, too, but he was erratic and impatient. Back to his own ball-bashing ways.

So far, Ruud in big trouble in the first set. 0-3, double-break down to Rune.

Zverev in serious trouble at home in Munich. Griekspoor up a set and a break, serving 4-3 in the 2nd. Zed running out of time.

Well, he bought himself some time, and won the 2nd in a TB. On serve in the 3rd.

Oh Dear Tallon was serving for the match and was broken, won the 3rd set 64, a match that got away from Tallon
BTW first time Zverev has won 3 consecutive matches since January :)
