The Top 10 Most Aces in 2014.

Year after year,Serena Williams puts her perfect serve on display on tennis courts around the world, blasting ace after ace-and usually blasting far more aces than any other player on the tour.

But this year the race for the WTA's Ace Leader was extremely close-the top two finishes had 452 and 435 aces, respectively, with third place all the way back at 306 aces.Serena Williams was one of those top two finishes, but a fast rising WTA Rising Star was right up there with her.

10th Venus Williams 222 Aces
9th Ana Ivanovic 231 Aces
8th Sam Stosur 234 Aces
7th Madison Keys 235 Aces
6th Sabine Lisicki 245 Aces Record serve in Stanford at 131mph,now the fastest serve in WTA history
5th Petra Kvitova 263 Aces
4th Lucie Safarova 272 Aces
3rd CoCo Vandeweghe 306 Aces
2nd Karoline Pliskova 435 Aces
1st Serena Williams 452 Aces

From the WTA website...13th November
I do not know how many tournaments Pliskova entered, but if she had gone deeper in the ones that I watched her play, she might have surpassed Serena in aces this year.
Karolina competed in 30 tournaments which is a high number compared to 16 for Serena, so that is a huge variance. Nevertheless, I saw Karolina's serve and it is wicked hot, her game really came together late in the year. I think she is one player to keep an eye on next year.

I want to know why Ana Ivanovic was not included in Comeback Player of the Year? I mean she is probably the most obvious candidate. She won 4 titles and made it to the WTA Finals event something she hadn't done in a while. For me, Ana is the obvious choice and winner of Comeback Player.

Has she won any titles serving all those aces? If you haven't won anything serving all of those aces then it should not be mentioned.

Also Venus. There's now way in hell maria should be included. I would not be surprise if they gave POY to Maria.

Excuse me, this is just the list of ace leaders. What has it got to do with titles? No one said
she has won lot of titles or she is better than Serena. Would you just relax for a while?

The contention that Karolina needed 30 tourneys to rack up that many Aces is also besides
the point. What you really want to be comparing is Aces per match. Even though Serena
participated only in 16 tourneys, they both might have played comparable number of
matches as Serena goes deeper or wins the tourneys often.

Well, you're on the Internet dude, Google is your friend, also the WTA site. Yeah, Pliskova won 2 titles in singles and 3 in doubles this year. You a tennis fan?

Amazing day in #Haiti visiting @Medishare4Haiti programs and made some new friends who share my love of candy. This has been such an eye-opening and inspiring experience, and I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to come to #Haiti and lend a helping hand. #GiveBack #ProjectMedishare

What the hell are you talking about? What does Serena have to do this this? I asked a question that had nothing to do with Serena and here you are talking about Serena and how many tourneys she played....No- you need to relax and stop being paranoid.

I voted for Serena -- the only logical choice, IMO.

For me, Player of the Year goes to the person winning titles consistently through out the entire year not just portions of the year.

The Choices for Comeback Player of the Year are confusing...I don't even recognize one of those names. Why would Ana and Caro not be there?
Why is Genie not in Newcomer of the Year instead of Most Improved? Most improved from what or are we talking about jumps in ranking.
Player of the Year is a no-brainer...consistency throughout the year is important....wins in the beginning, middle and end are important....great analogy? Who wants the boyfriend who shows up with candy and flowers and jewelry on Valentine's but is MIA during the rest of the year....;)

Regarding the criteria for Come Back Player Of The Year, includes a player who missed a significant time due to an injury (approx. 3 to 6 months) and current season's results have helped restore ranking.Winner is then determind by a media vote with a fan vote counting as one media vote.

From the WTA website 12th November.

^Thanks. The choices make more sense now...still makes it a little less interesting, but at least it doesn't seem like the choices were pulled out of a hat :)

In your opinion who do you think should be player of the year?

I think Serena is the Player of the Year: Brisbane, Miami, Rome, Stanford, Cincinnati, US Open and WTA Finals. She sustained winning through out the whole calendar year versus her counterparts having a good month or two of winning.
