Anybody here a fan of America's national pastime, as it it has been referred to all my life? In case you didn't know, we have probably the most storied rivalry in the sport's history combating one another in the Fall Classic later this month, starting this Friday evening. Once again, it is the Yankees v. the Dodgers which, at least for the last 50+ years, means it is a World Series played in the two biggest cities of the nation, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast. But the rivalry is even more glorious since the team now known as the Los Angeles Dodgers (which was for many decades before the move to Los Angeles known as the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Brooklyn Dodgers had many great battles with the New York Yankees even before the team was moved to California (along with the New York Giants, who became the San Francisco Giants) in the late 1950s. So, a battle between these teams is about as good as he gets, but it is even better this go around because the New York Yankees have the American League most valuable player in Aaron Judge, while the Los Angeles Dodgers boast the most valuable player in the National League in the Japanese phenom, Shohei Ohtani. It is going to be a cracking World Series and I hope there are some fans of baseball here who will be commenting throughout. I am well aware of the many quality players on both teams apart from the two I mentioned, but I know those two are probably the most well-known amongst casually interested baseball fans. I personally do not care who wins – – the sport of baseball is the winner here!

Astounding to me that nobody here is commenting about the Fall Classic. Tonight is game 3 and a must win for the New York Yankees. Any fans here? Ohtani is cleared to play tonight and Judge is itching to come out of his slugging slump. Meanwhile Freeman and Soto are bringing it! Great pitching and hitting--all the good stuff.

Sorry I never posted on your thread. I watch some/all of all the games. I thought it was an overall dud of a series, and not just because I wanted the Yankees to win. It got better when the Yankees offense finally showed up, but don't even talk to me about Game 5. The Yanks flat-out blew their chance to take it back to LA.

^ You are correct, Moxie. The Bronx Bombers really bombed the last game, but some of the first three games were thrilling. I mean Freddie with a walk-off grand slam to win it was truly historic! Judge had a very lackluster series, no doubt. So did Shohei for that matter. But others did step up. Dodgers pitching appeared to have more control over the Yanks most games except for the last one. Yes, it really ought to have returned to Dodger Stadium but so it goes.
