Darcis asked for a wild card, based upon his heroism last year, which was equally heroic but this time in vain. I'd like him to make it through, though, and play Rafa in the first round.

Then Nadal v Rosil.

Then Nadal v Dustin Brown... :clap

That sounds like an easy revenge fest for Rafa.

Darcis won his opening qualifier. Watch out...

Interesting and good that he decided to play 'cos he said he wouldn't do qualifiers if refused a wild card. Will be happy to hopefully see him in the main draw. He was very unlucky last year to have to pull out of his second match.

Shame these two guys both have to qualify as they can't both make it through but both are potential spoilers, especially Brands with his big serve. Hoping Darcis' shoulder is as well recovered as he says it is.

blokes I think have any chance at all to win Wimbledon. some of them have a small chance.

Federer, murray, djokovic, berdych, Tsonga, dimitrov, raonic, janowicz, nishikori, nadal.

I think that, in all that have been said regarding Nadal chances, I would replace "second week" by semis. I could see a Nishikori, a Tsonga or a Berd..., ok, a Nishikori or a Tsonga beating him at quartes or at the round of 16. These guys would be a peril for anyone, anyway.

It is a real shame that del Potro is not in the mix.

Just a reminder, Nishikori for example, will be ranked in the 9-12 seeds, these players will not be drawn against the top 4 in the R16, rather against the 5-8 seeds, if the draw plays out to meet.
Tsonga on another hand is now ranked 17 (with Delpo missing it means 16), but he might get a few places higher based on his 2012 SF and Queen F from last year), but I am not sure it will be enough to pull him all the way into top 12.
If he will be seeded 13-16, he could face in the R16 a top 4 player.

If I had to bet money now on who takes it, I put mine down on Nole. He has been the guy who goes deepest in all the big ones and is often fighting for the title in the semis and finals. You keep going to the well, you will eventually draw some water. He is the one I think takes it, but a last one (and I think it would be) from Federer on his hallowed green lawns of The Championships would be nice to see as well. If I had to bet on someone outside the Big Four, then I will go with Dimitrov.

I agree that Djokovic would be favored, but only by default. I expect Murray to try to peak again for this one, but he's an unknown commodity since the back surgery. I agree that the best dark horse is Dimitrov. It'll be interesting where he lands in the draw, because he could be a massive QF. And as far as Roger and Rafa, it depends on how they get to the round of 16.

i didn't forget rafa..his recent 2012-2014 grass record is 2-4 :s he's gone from awesome on grass to a hippo on stilts on grass:huh: anyhow I might add his name when i'm sure he will play Wimbledon. i'll have my magic 10 top Wimbledon tips then !. :)

he's playing an exhibition tourney at hurlingham, a private club in London..its fenced off don't you know. he's been moaning about his back again and sounded like he's going to see how it goes at this exho before deciding to play, the drift I was getting was he wasn't sure..could be 2009 time again. that's the impression I got.

Where did you read that he's going to see how it goes before he decides if to play? He's going to play to get some more practice on grass as he only got one match in Halle. Apparently he hasn't picked up a racket since being home so hopefully his back will be feeling better as he'll need his serve in Wimbledon.

Like everyone as said, it is hard to predict the winner of this tournament. This is the only major where there are no clear favorites.

Agree and I think that the winner would be one of these guys: Federer, Djokovic, or Murray. I do not include Nadal in the list cause he is not rly good on a grass court + i just read that he said smth about back pains.

Well Markus, Rafa has won Wimbledon twice and he's been in five finals. There's a very straight forward argument that suggests he's better on grass than Murray or Djoker - just not recently...

Hippo on stilts lol. His back is probably no different right now than 99% of the other players on tour with a few small aches and pains. He just moans a lot and also they keep asking him annoying questions about it even when the spectators see no visual signs. The press are the bunch of hippos imo. "I don’t have a very bad feeling but I still feel the back a little bit". I mean if that's supposed to mean he's on death row or skipping Wimbledon I'm a monkey's uncle ;) Only thing he's annoyed about is lack of practice but of course he'll play Wimbledon.

So, it's kinda like time has stood still, isn't it? I've held my breath all day and won't exhale until the draw is made. Then I'll start to get a bit excited about it, but right now, I'm still googling FO vids and pondering the unknowables...
