Not really silly when you look at the context of the phase "Doesn't have a clue" because Rafa style of play as currently architected cant get him to the qtrs of a any major or to defeat the lower ranked players with any consistency. Other players(JMDP, Fed, Djoker, Monfils, JoWillieTs, Murray) return from injuries or a layoff and resume their legendary status of defeating the lower ranked player but not Nadal.

Well firstly, JoWillie is prolly only a legend in a nite club, but never on a tennis court. :p

But Rafa always made harder work of lower ranked players. He's not going to suddenly develop a strike first mentality, let alone game. He can hire in somebody to tinker with the serve, maybe, a mechanic to work on his wayward shots, but Toni knows more than these blokes all put together. You don't sack the architect, then start messing around with the foundations...

My lord Brotha..you are starting to sound like a Trump surrogate..Add to the coaching Staff not abolishing Toni..say it yourself again..Add to the current coaching staff as a tennis consultant, Add to the current coaching staff as a tennis consultant

What the heck has Trump got to do with Rafa? :laydownlaughing :laydownlaughing

Nobody disagrees with getting somebody in, allowing themselves to glory themselves on a cheap YouTube vid or two, but when you say Toni "hasn't got a clue", you jump the shark, bro. Toni knows. If he thinks he needs a junior, he'll hire. If not, it's because Rafa doesn't need one... :popcorn

Reread my post why I said Toni doesn't have a clue as far as being architect against the current leaders at the top of the ATP tour

Rafa shutting down the rest of his year, out of Basel, Paris, and London. He says "Now it is time to rest and start preparing intensively the 2017 season". Maybe with a new consultant? Probably not though.

I just hope he comes back fully healed this time.

Do you see? Rafa has had the answer and I hope this time for good! :cry
Seriously I think he needs definitely to put his mind in order, after the wrist injury he was too brave to play in Rio with a short preparation and even that he didn't play too bad but it was a high risk and later showing that he wasn't in very good conditions which didn't help him mentally at all.
I'm glad in one way with that decision, he is not injured this time even that maybe he still could have some discomfort in his wrist but he needs a rest and plenty time to practice well and enough to recover his lost great mind and confidence starting 2017 in much better conditions physically and mentally
