Medvedev is the only one I'm certain of. If FAA has a good year next year, I'll put him up there too. Otherwise he might just be the same old story with recent young guns...

Yeaah we all love the super awesome Nadal :smooch::heart:
You only have to look at all the posts on here to know that's not true. Some people love him. Other people loathe him. Do you think that all people on here who say they hate him are just being sarcastic? I don't think so. I don't think you get to be everyone else's spokesperson either. Everyone speaks for themselves.

Let us look at how many of these youngsters have managed to defeat all three members of 3.

I think it is only Thiem, Bad boy and Perseus. Med and Sasha have not yet beaten Rafa.

Hence, I actually think their chances of winning a GS first before others is better. In particular, I don't think Med (or Sasha for that matter, but that is a no brainer) will be the first one to win a GS.

I'm sticking with Tsitsipas as the one of the youngsters to win a Major first. Partly because I don't want to bandwagon Medvedev. The guy has to run out of gas at some point, or someone aught to start asking questions. Plus his game is overall too passive. Zverev may eventually come good when he gets his head straight, but there's a lot of work to do, including on his game, before then. Thiem maybe, at the FO. Kyrgios? I've given up on him.

We officially need to stop labelling Thiem as a youngster. He's twenty-fucking-six.

Youngster or not Theim I think has the best shot because of the FO. He’s made SF, SF, F, F and on red clay he can be a beast.

Thiem does not qualify to the topic of this thread, because it starts with "of the players under 25" words.

Yes, on the fine points, but Thiem has always been on the cusp of 2 groups. It's my thread and I still think not a bad point to say that maybe Thiem before anyone else, in terms of those younger. No reason not to discuss him. Let's face it, I don't want Thiem to win the next FO, if that means he beats Nadal, but he may be the next one. Obviously, Medvedev has risen to the top of the list. Bandwagon, or real deal?

Ok, then you should have not said "under 25".
Medvedev by reaching a slam final put himself in a unique spot as nobody younger than 25 has managed to do that.
Of course he has to back it up, to be considered a real threat. Hard not to compare his recent rise to what Sasha did in the previous seasons.
The difference imo between Sasha and Daniil is that Sasha never backed up in Slams what he did in the 2 of 3 events, while Daniil did between Cincy and the USO.

I'm just saying that I don't mind a bit of fudging, for the sake of conversation. And Thiem has always been on the cusp of two groups, at least in my opinion. Sure, what Daniil is doing right now puts him at the forefront. And yes, Zverev was the great hope, and then did nothing with it. I'm actually wondering if Medvedev's run is going to inspire any others, such as Zverev.

ATP put up this graphic today, talking about De Minaur winning his 3rd title of the year. I thought it was interesting also in how few titles the Big 3 have won so far this year, compared to the old days. Obviously, De Minaur's are only 250s, but he's also only 20 and these are his first titles, all won this year. I only gave him passing notice in the poll above, so I figured I'd make up for that.
