I am going to go with Serena upsets herself. Glad she hit the practice court after that match. Those 8 doubles in the first set alone :cover
SMG, it's been like that for over 8 years only person that can defeat Serena is bad Serena who showed up this afternoon

Welcome to Frontier Life ehaber. From your signature, I take it Nadal is one of your favorites. Who do you like on the women's tour?

Come to think of it BMS fits the bill perfectly. Here are my reasons.

1. Generally speaking, Serena loses to someone in the early round of slams and so she should be taken out in the first week only, if she is going to be taken out.

2. Generally speaking, Serena loses to someone of low profile only. In the fourth round Serena will face Madison Keys or Aga and both are well known commodities and so Serena will be careful.

3. To take out Serena and finish the job, the opponent must be fearless. Timid people need not apply for the job. BMS is certainly fearless.

4. Serena must be in bad form. She is obviously in bad form as evidenced by her previous match. If she retains even 50% of that bad form, it will give BMS a very good chance.

5. Even though Serena has a 2-0 advantage over BMS, they have not played since 2008 and so there is a surprise element going on as well.

6. Also, with her recent success in Women's doubles and Mixed doubles, BMS's net game has improved considerably which would surely help her.

Serena die hard fans, do not attack me. But, I think this is probably the most dangerous match of the open for Serena.

I dont think Serena will lose to BMS because there is a lot going on beyond the match...Bethanie has a history of not playing well against Venus and Serena she kinda freezes.Serena wants to play better than her 2nd match and she has not lost to a younger American unless she was injured. This is prime time at the Open and I doubt that she will lose...yes BMS will put up a fight but will not be enough.
Bethanie and Serena practice together here and there...I remember they practiced TOGETHER at Patrick s academy during 2013 RG..
Serena in two or three..

I am not saying Serena will lose in this match. All I am saying is that if Serena were to lose this event, it has a higher chance of happening in this match as opposed to any of the other later matches.

This was pretty prophetic GSM but Serena saw it through at the end.

Serena had me worried. A little. But she rights the ship as she has all year. Four to go! Keys is next!

OK, let me continue more prophecies.

In the next round Serena plays Madison. They had already played in AO and that too in SF
(when Madison was an unknown commodity). Madison is no longer unknown and so Serena will
be very careful.

Madison is a MLBB and so Serena will finish her off in straight sets without much drama.
A 1 break win in the first set and a 2 break win in the second set. Also, Serena will not be broken in the whole match.

Serena will not lose to anyone from QF onwards.

So, to put it in a nutshell, I am ready to hand over the trophy to Serena.

It would be interesting if someone could post the h2h of Serena vs. Field (the remaining players only)
as we go along.

I don't see very many players left who has defeated her and even those have hardly 1 or 2 wins barring Venus.

Vika 17-3
Petra 5-1
Keys 1-0
Kerbie 5-1
Venus 15-11
Genie 2-0
Roberta 4-0
Simona 6-1
Sam 8-3
Maka 4-1
Petko 5-0
Sara 9-0
Flavia 7-0
Varvara 3-0
Mona 1-0
Strycova 2-0
Sabine 3-1

97-22
