I don't think they do. I think Rafa will have some sort of come back this year.
I think our friend @vjmtz is looking for it. Anyway, I'm sure Rafa will be on the comeback trail this year coming up. If he's still going to be a big player, he's got to show it early and often, and win a Major again in 2017. I'm hoping he's coming back healthy and refreshed, and with big confidence. I think Moyà was a wise addition to the team. He believes in Rafa, and says he's willing to kick his butt into winning shape.

Tommy Haas is coming back for a swansong... so he'd be almost a dead cert for retirement by the end of year.

Our fellow poster is obviously looking forward to it or he just wanted to be humorous, but you originally thought Djokovic, along with Federer fans, are looking forward to rafa's end, while I think it is far from reality. Majority of No1e's fans are in love with Rafa, men or women, so I can't imagine them looking forward to Rafa's retirement.

We will soon see in which form are Big 3. There is a question mark on all 3 right now. Did you watch any of that exhibition? How did Rafa play? It is overnight for me so I didn't have a chance to see any matches.

Huh...funny. I've never felt a lot of love for Rafa amongst Djokovic fans, since Nadal is one of the 2 main impediments to the Djokovic legacy but I'll take your word for it, for now. ;) As far as some of the Federer fans, they actually say it out loud that they can't wait for Nadal to retire.

Exhibitions are hard to find links to, so I haven't watched any. By watching scores and reading news reports, Rafa is serving well, playing pretty aggressively, and feeling good about himself on court. All good signs, after a lay-off. His plan for Goffin is to get him out of rhythm. They have never played, so it will be tricky for both. Therefore, I'd tentatively give the advantage to Nadal tomorrow. I hope he wins. It would be a great confidence booster to kick off 2017, and, along with good health, I think confidence is all he needs.

I saw commentary on some website. You're right. The only break in the 2nd set was that Rafa broke Tomas late. They said that Nadal was looking in great form.

I saw the matches on FB. All three of them. Rafa looked great.

That's a surprise, is he playing doubles with Kafelnikov or something?

OT: Stepanek seems obvious to me, the guy is 38. Surely Karlovic must be retiring soon too.

I'm in the minority but I will be one happy camper when Wafa is gone from tour once and for all :lightning:

You should realize that the :lightning: that fuels your fire against Nadal only increases his power over Roger. If he hadn't done so much damage to the Federer legacy, you wouldn't despise him so much.
