Who are your favourite female players (past and present) ?

The one on top of my list is Maria Sharapova - Not only for her tennis or her looks but for being a warrior her whole life through - She's not the most talented - not the best or elegant mover - not the player with the best technical tennis skills and yet she's been a top player through her whole career among other things - She is a great role model for every kid - boy or girl - Here 3 faces of her (tennis - fashion and casual)

If this thread was about who I do not like top of the list would be Azarenka and Marion Bartoli.

I liked and admire Navratilova, a lot.  I didn't like Graf when she was winning everything, (I don't care so much for dominance,) but have appreciated her tennis, in retrospect.  I like Serena and Venus, and I love Sharapova's competitiveness.  I also currently like Azarenka, because she has the game to take Serena more than anyone else.  Cibulkova, Muguruza, Panetta, Petkovic.  And I always hope the best for Jankovic, who has great fight and emotion, Ivanovic, because she has a lovely game.  Never warmed up to Hingis, or Henin, though I admire her game, and FH.

Chrissie Evert is at the top of my list--I love my hometown girl and my daughter now attends the very same high school Chrissie did!  After Evert, I was a huge fan of Jennifer Capriati and loved her fight and determination.  I was not fond of, but totally awed by, Steffi in her epoch.  And then came Seles with the two-handed forehand and backhand--she was really something.  I greatly admired the little Swiss Miss for being able to be a top player until the power Williams duo showed up and blew her and everyone else off of the court.  Loved to watch Henin play and now follow and pull for Muguruza and Dominika.  I had a lurid fascination with Ashley Harkleroad too--oh boy! :whistle:

Monica Seles -  2nd favorite

Sabatini - gorgeous with a nice backhand too.

Lindsey Davenport - "Puffy".  Some of the best groundstrokes I've ever seen.  Plus she looked like that lady from Goonies!  

Daniela Hantuchova - Not a great mover, but I liked the way she hit the ball, beautiful woman.

Maria Sharapova - Except for the loud noises and serve, I like everything else.

Camila Giorgi and Ana Ivanovic -  :heart:   :heart:  :whistle:

Hmmmm... Past faves for me are Martina Navratilova (loved her serve and volley game), Stefi Graf, Amalie Mauresmo, and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario. At present, there are so many players to admire, but I'll mention Serena Williams first because she's, well, Serena Then there's Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, Madison Keys, and Belinda Bencic. The latter two players may not be in the top ten (yet), but they've got guts and gumption, and a whole lotta game... All they really need to get to the top is the experience and confidence gained from playing better players in bigger tournaments.

Garbine is destined to have a big 2016 I think and Keys will be close to the Top 10 if not in it. I haven't seen much of Belinda, but she's risen very quickly so she's going to make us all pay attention!
