Agree with you, I miss the good old Murray, I don't like the shadow of himself !!

I always thought it would take a while to come back from surgery. It's not just the operation that requires recuperation. He then has to get match fit, and after that get match-hardened. He's too good to just slip away... but he's also going to have to recover his mojo. I think that will require him getting back in the mix at the business end of proceedings with the Top guns to re-light the competitive spark and drive that took him to US Open and Wimbledon titles. All will take time, but I'm confident it will happen in due course.

Yes, Queen's Club seems right. I don't think he'll win Miami again this year, and he's never had a stellar clay season even when perfectly healthy, so the grass in England will be his best chance to win again.

murray said recently he has focused on raising his level of being 'match tough' and said he was happy he's now capable of playing 3 setters on consecutive days and not feeling the back, and is able to bounce back next day to play again.

he also said he'd not been actually practising much in that time, in Miami he'd do more of that to help iron out the uneven play he's been emitting recently.

Probably grass, although I voted later because I wasn't thinking about minor tournaments. I think his first big win will be at Canada or Cincinnati. I don't think he'll win Wimbledon or a Slam this year.

I was thinking about grass season, but what I haven't seen from Murray's game made me pick later this year.

I'll go with Queens. Maybe Tsonga will reach the final again and Murray will do his usual lose the first set and win in 3 routine.

If he doesn't nail Miami, and it doesn't look like he has the form to, it's difficult to say. Especially when it gets to grass. I think the Canadian Open, just to give a reply, but I think he'll play well on clay, but it's hard to predict grass...

I think it will be at Queens. He will likely be the favorite to win that one.

I haven't looked or heard who's going to Queens this year! A few seasons ago, you had Rafa with others resenting an entertainment tax and promised to go to Halle instead! Roger had already made the "Continent's" grass court tourney his warmup event years ago over the "island's!" Have they done something about that yet? :nono

When you say he'll play well on clay, I would be curious to what did you mean by that?
Good compared to how he played this year up to now or good compared to his previous clay years or good compared with the good clay courters?

Good results. I think the surface will give him more time for his shots. That's why I'm not so certain about how he'll do on grass. Grass isn't a great surface for finding your range. I think clay will be progress, but he won't fully be right until the summer hards. Already I'm concerned his progress is too slow. On clay, I think he can make up for things...

Good, I agree with that. I thought the same, being less proficient on clay will play witth not much pressure or expectations and he could take his time to get in the groove.
He will need that because unless he fires ion all cylinders next week, he'll likely not be able to defend his win, thus it will be his turn to take the 8th spot ranking, where Roger was.
Note that if Andy will not reach the final he will automatically drop below JMDP.

Pretty sure Rafa is at Halle for good now and Djokovic hasn't played one of the warmups since at least 2010 I think.

You're right:

He only played at Queen's Club three times.
