I don't think the world has embraced Kerber as no 1. She's not super popular and beloved and she only has a very few avid supporters/enthusiasts. There is no Kerber Army. I think this truth has hurt her ego and her spirit. The top players love the great support they get and it fuels them. Kerber just doesn't have that. I really don't think the WTA or the media or tennis fans around the world really are happy with her as no 1. No disrespect to her but she just doesn't have that IT factor or X factor that excites people. And this has affected her performance and enthusiasm. Just a theory.

Kerber is not a bad number one. It's just that she does not transcend the sport at all and though she is very nice and classy and a good sport she does not transcend the sport and attract interest. She does not have special charisma. She does not stand out aside from her ranking. Graf was an amazing athlete. Becker had charisma and boom. Kerber is about as fascinating or appealing as Dinara Safina who did not last long. They were not bad no 1s but they were not great ones either like Fed Agassi Hingis Seles Serena etc).

Samimal with a career high win today, this one is equally as impressive as last year's shocker vs Djokovic. Samimal has to play Cilic who he i 0-4 against but all four duel were very very close scores and either three or five sets and the last meeting was 76 76. 50-50 match. Djokovic again curiously goes down meekly. Federer again looks as great if not greater then ever in destroying Raonic. How about those light Fed grunts late in the third set? Fed has to be the heavy favorite to win this title now.

Duke; Djokovic is a shell of that beast. But a lot of people don't know that Roddick physically humiliated Djokovic in the locker room minutes after this inteview. And Roddick verbally abused Djokovic to the point that he made him cry with tears running down his cheeks. I have a source who worked in the locker room and he told me this. he said if the staff attendants were not there Roddick would have beaten the shi7 out of Djokovic. Of course this incident led to Djokovic have a poor next year and a half full of struggles. Because he was physically humiliated by Roddick and that's a traumatic thing for a guy. Agree Djokovic needs to summon that beast again but it looks like it will never happen because Djokovic is too worried about being loved and his image. The ruthless killer Djokovic is dead and gone. Now we have this wimpified version.

Chazz; I think Cilic wanted it more. His facial expression was very serious and almost mean. Almost like a hatred. Cilic's expression and demeanor seemed to communicate "I will hatchet you into pieces before I let you win this match." Cilic is a very nice person but he looks like an absolute Charles Manson killer out there on the court. Sam stole that first set but he needed to be more intense and show Cilic and everyone he wanted it more. I think Querrey needs to consult with Todd Martin's alter ego Todd Monster, who famously appeared just once at the US Open match vs Moya when Todd Martin was down two sets to love. Todd Monster showed up and changed the whole match. Qball needs that little bit of rage and fury to go all the way. He is close.

Andrew; Great result for Q and USA tennis but in the end it's the same old story. Sam looked like a pro golfer out there. Cilic looked like a guy ready to do anything to win. Cilic wanted it more. Sam needed a can of Desire and to guzzle it before each set. Confidence tank full but desire tank was not as full as Cilic's.
